I'm just curious, were they booked but pulled out because of money? or were they never booked and it was just the 40th buildup which people seemed to think put them in the rumours.

I haven't got a problem with the current headliners at all, would just like to know why it fell through? I have heard somewhere they were 99% nailed on?? Oh well can't be unhappy that stevie is headlining :P

And another  :P who was that 4th headliner last year?

That 4th headliner thing was always just rubbish and I detailed why in a post last year only to get a lot of critics.
Glasto rumours are always good fun, real shame about U2, I cannot make this year but was looking forward to it on the telly.

I think Mick was seen at the site last year, checking it out, but the whole tour was pulled because of Ron's alcoholism or something?  Which seems odd because he's playing with that car-crash of a reunion with the Faces?

I'm 95%+ sure that they were being lined-up to play, but the Stones then pulled their touring plans for this year because of Ron being on the piss and that stopping them getting insurance for the tour.

I guess I'll find out for sure at some time in the future, I normally do with stuff like this.

i love the early rolling stones stuff... but wouldn't wanna see em personally.  the stones can't play anymore.  they sound like the worst rolling stones cover band ever.

shame... but true. imho.

Anyone see the documentary on Exile the other night? Amazing story of a truly amzing album... it's a miracle it came out at all from the sounds of things. Followed by a perfect example of why they won't be missed at Glasto... the Bigger Bang set from Brazil... horrible 'music'. The contrast between absolute greatness and an awful excuse for rock n roll   :P

and the stupid beeb, cut Midnight Rambler in half... they thought the 'breakdown' in the middle of the song was the end of it, so just as it's warming up, it cuts to another song..  :P

Yes, was a great documentary.  Didn't really offer anything that new though, I was hoping for a bit more to be honest.  I'd read most of the anecdotes and stories previously.

Have you heard the new stuff that they've released for the reissue of Exile?  Most of it's good enough to stand up on it's own.

That Rio gig was horrible, agreed.  Faxed in, as you would say.  I last saw them at Twickenham in 2004 and they weren't a patch on the few times I'd see them previously.  Apart from when Malcolm and Angus Young came and jammed with them.  That was cool.

Me too..... I was really hoping there'd be more footage of the actual 'sessions' (musical and otherwise  :P )

Great doc yeah, love that era Stones (who doesnt though). Threw on Cocksucker Blues after it mainly to see Keef inject heroin and the duet with Stevie Wonder.

Agree 100% on the new Exile release. Mick adding recent vocals is total shit. What a band they were though. They should really pack it in now.

Rumours Charlie is giving up touring too.

What puts me off with The Stones these days is the really expensive tickets, plus it always seems to be seating which is gay. I've only seen them once, in 98 at Wembley Stadium - standing (great atmosphere and gig) - the ticket cost about £30. Now it costs about £100 to sit down, screw that!

How can seating be gay ? Were they forcing you to sit on a cock ?

The gay thing?

Apparently Mick liked the odd cock in his day.

yea, right....
Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street.... rubbish, all of them  :P

plus, they'd already given him the boot before he died

I prefer their 60s output to all those albums.

It was all Anita Pallenberg's fault anyway.

EDIT: let it bleed and beggars banquet featured Brian anyway

Well yeah, even I am not stupid enough to say Sticky Fingers is anything but a superb album :P . But Exile (to me) is horrible.

I am a big Brian Jones fanboy though so this may influence me somewhat...

Whats so horrible about it?  :P

Im a Brian Jones fanboy too, most people are, but Mick Taylor offered a different buzz to the band, he was shit hot. They only went badly downhill when Ronnie joined really. That coupled with the fact they generally stopped giving a shit.
