Sir, you have no soul.

I might be as sneaky as the people that use a big pile of wood to save a big space in the middle of their tents that are also surrounded with tape :)

Maybe communal fire areas would do the trick.

And Sir, my soul rests with those that find it hard to get a space.

Depends. I was doing campsite stewarding last year, and on the Thursday when the field was running short on space, we did tell a few people who had gazebos and windbreakers to take them down to make space for more tents. I think the same would go for chairs if it was spotted.

I always arrive first thing and for the past three glasto's have brought all the lads tents who are following on, last we put 7 tents up(and carried them from the car) this year its only 2 I think. its not much effort but its worth it so we all camped together.
we never bring a gazeebo, we normally invade the nearest one if it rains and make friends!

I'm always early but if I was late I would be mightily peeved if some arrogant selfish dick was unfairly taking up space.

There is always 15-20 of us vagabonds from Stoke that come to the festival and we have been camping in the Dairy Grounds for 7 Glasto's now. We use the our camping spot as a meet up point and a nice place to carry on getting smashed on the all nighters when dawn finally approaches before the music kicks off again in the day. You cant say that "oh there's plenty of better places to go than sitting around the tents" because this does not apply all the time.
When all the bars are shut in the morning we need to replenish our drinks from our stash in the tents, when it is a wet festival and the whole site is trashed you want to be able to sit somewhere dry underneath a gazebo(thers no chance id want to be carrying round a chair with me all night) and when it is a scorcher (fingers crossed this year will be the same as last year!!) you need somewhere to get away from the sun.
WE go exploring a GREAT deal during the festival and in no way do we stay there all the time.
With normally 10 tents in our group all we ask is for the space of just over one tent for our gazebo. we always cram the ten tents really close to each other and if you think about it the space we use is a lot  smaller than the space needed for 3 groups of 3 tents.

You could always take your own popup tent and chuck it in the middle of all your tents. Then take it down on say the Friday morning

Don't pitch your tent over the entrance of another tent

in 2007, I woke up, unzipped tent to walk outside only to fall into some tw@ts tent who had literally pitched theirs on top of mine.
They weren't in it so i un-pegged it and shoved it to the side. Idiots!

We have a gazebo but it has sides and people sleep in it at night so does that make it a gazebo or a gazebo-shaped tent?

wel if somebody's using it instead of a tent then it doesn't really matter. no more space being taken up than neccassery

First year there was 3 of us in a 4man tent had not much space in front of our tent but just enough to sit down and chill in.
Second year there was a good 15-20 of us and we had a nice sized space in the middle of our tents for chairs/fire/general merryment.

Personally i do like a bit of space to sit down and just chill on.
