Read this news too in the Express and Echo on the weekend! "at the heart of all things local" so it must be gospel!

I could be wrong, but I don't think there's ever been a band comment by Eavis this far away from the fest he's talking about that's actually happened for that fest.
So this Coldplay comment can probably be ignored.

i don't know about "ever" but he i was thinking pretty much the same that this almost means Coldplay aren't playing next year.
he did say Macca and Oasis were 'surely' on during the weekend of 03 when he basically said he had booked all of next year's headliners, so give him credit for that...
but Prince for the Sunday in 04 was obviously not true. then on the final day of 04 he insisted he had booked the biggest band in the world who had at least one number and one letter in their name, and yet UB40 were nowhere to be seen in '05
one year he said Clapton was playing "next year" because all the slots were already filled this year, and we're still waiting for that to happen. Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler he insisted well in advance too one year (have any jokes up your sleeve for this one, Neil?) as well. Kanye West headlining other stage last year? wasn't Outkast mentioned from his lips as an early headliner one year too?

i love this board.
Mr Eavis makes a remark. we *know* how he is with his remarks...
it then gets put through the efestivals filter and becomes truth! amazing!

I suspect this ahs come about because there wa sa lot of talk of Coldplay opening/appearing this year. Obviously nothing's confirmed but there's clearly a good chance of Coldplay appearing next year. It will have been 6 years since they last appeared, with a fallow year following if they don't appear it will be a minimum of 8.
ME has always spoken about them favourably since they helped him out by doing the Pilton Party (think that's the name) for the locals at short notice.
I thought they did a great job in 2005 and would love to see them again. And for the many who wouldn't, I really wouldn't worry too much.

as much as i like coldplay, them, radiohead and elbow being next years headliners would be an incredibly bland choice!
