Glasto 'only' music....

It's getting towards that time of year....
As Glasto gets closer and the excitement level builds...my choice of listening naturally tends to lean towards bands/artists that are appearing this year. I start buying music that I maybe wouldn't normally be aware of without them being on the bill somewhere... (have discovered a 'new fave' the last few years. As it should be!)
I think it was about a month beforehand last year when the ratio tipped to an almost exclusive 'this year's bill' playlist. That may happen earlier this year!
Just me?

No not just you - I have a ipod playlist exclusively listening to Glasto bands known to me and newly found.
And I've just found out I'm off to see Ade Edmondson and the Bad shepperds on Sunday, should get me in mood!

I've been iPodding and Spotifying exclusively Glasto confirmed acts for a few weeks now. As a result I've discovered a few artists who have me hooked (Laura Marling, The Bees, Local Natives). It's all good.

Proud to say I dont own an iPod, but have been constantly listening to Glasto stuff on my Sansa. Its been Glasto stuff non-stop for weeks now.
drewsstrat - would be interesting to hear what you thought of Ades gig on Sunday as I dont know much about his music.

Yes I definitely start buying only Glasto bands, which is not a hardship as so many of bands play it is a good chance to listen to new music and catch up on stuff I have wanted to buy.
In my blog, I am reviewing a cd a week this week Holy f**k and have set up playlists in My Space that can be listened to as well as reviewed some bands I have been listening to and buying
Check it out and comment please

I try and avoid it. In the past a few great gigs have been almost ruined because I over-listened to the albums before the gig, so by the time I saw the show I was reaching saturation point. Now I do the opposite and try to avoid listening to the bands I'm going to see, so I'll get excited when they play the songs I love. May listen to a few new bands to get to grips, but once I 'know' the songs I try and give them a break.

I doubt I'll only be listening to Glasto bands before the fest but I probably will make upo a CD to listen to in work.

I'm with you on this one - the bands I already knew well before the line-up was announced have disappeared from my mp3 player. I want the next time I hear a track that means something to me to be at Glastonbury.
I have downloaded albums by bands I'm not familiar with to try to be more clued up when bimbling around, and have fallen for 2 or 3, but don't want to over play them before June.
I'm taking my mp3 player and a speaker for after hours campsite entertainment, and don't want the playlist to be entirely bands we've spent all day watching. Also the playlist for the car drive has to include some acts playing (probably the ones I want to convince my mates to come and see) but also just tunes to get us in the mood, so great festival highlights from years gone by.
I've noticed 6 Music has cranked up their playlist to include more bands on the line-up. In the last week I've heard pretty much every headliner at some point. As they're covering the festival virtually non-stop its to be expected but I hope they don't over play stuff to kill the anticipation.

I do enjoy listening to Glasto acts in the weeks leading up to the fest, all part of the build up for me. ipod playlist and a couple of mix cds for the trip down are essential! Also gives me the chance to check out new acts or acts I've missed first time around - this year I've been listening to Gang of Four & Jackson Browne as the older acts I've missed, and new acts Frankie & the Heartstrings, Peggy Sue & Goldheart Assembly. All good

Most of my music is now Glastonbury based, although I've had a few gigs recently, so been listening to that music too. Seeing Delphic tonight, but they're at Glasto anyway.

Me too
For me this adds to the excitement .... it's time to try new bands and decide who I might want to catch at Glastonbury

I've created a playlist with the bands I've not heard or listened to for a while that are playing Glastonbury. I tend to remove those that I know really well, so I don't over hear the music and get bored of it.
My buying around this time of year tends to be revolving around bands that I've heard of, but not necessarily heard who are playing Glastonbury, and adding them onto that playlist.
I'll take two usb sticks for the van stereo - a glasto mix, and a non-glasto mix.

I make a playlist every year but there has been a lot of decent music released recently from bands who aren't playing at Glasto, the best for me being Band of Horses' Infinite arms.

band of horses are a great band
I tend to still listen to everything but definitely check out/listen to a lot of glasto bands too.
