This would not put me off at all.  The fact that I'm married with kids would, but a bit of armpit fluff wouldn't.

Shave the night before I go, then again the day after I get back.

Simples.

Shave everything except a Hitler tash. Just to see what it looks like.

I'm trying this.  After a no-shave period I always cock about with the facial hair.  So far I've had a Zappatta Bandito moustache, Wolverine style lamb-chop sideboards and a Goatee (not all at once).  Never tried the Hitler though.

Too funny  :P

I worked with a guy once who had a beard, but without the tache bit ... very odd  :P

I love hairy / beardy men too. Lovely stuff  :P

Ha! Indeed! Didn't even cross my mind! This guy was weird though, and used to walk around with his chin practically rubbing his moobs, and the closest thing to a hello you'd get from him would be a an odd pitched 'huh' ...

The itchy phase passes in my experience.  I grew a beard for a bit last year (skin problem prevented shaving for about 2 months) and after about 2-3 weeks it stopped itching.

I heartily recommend going for the Bandito 'tache when you decide to get rid of it.  Endless source of amusement for people.

Something a bit like this I think, and it will save me money as I wont have to buy a tache to get into the NYC Downlow club

It's not so bad if you rub your own urine into it.

Only itches for 2 - 3 days max. Then it's plain sailing. You can cut about with various foodstuffs and detritus in your face to eat "for laters"
