You can't argue with Bruce/Neil and Blur as headliners. They were all amazing in totally different ways.

EDIT: But if i had a time machine i'd definitely go back to whichever year The Smiths played lol.

Agreed. Although in retrospect probably would have given the cheesy old boss a miss.

However 1995 and 1997 would have been pretty f**king good.

BTW, i'm just working with headliners because when you take into account every act it becomes pretty unquantifiable.

It's not possible to choose the best year when all acts are taken into account, surely lol.

2009 was almost perfect for me, which is probably why i've been punished with a poor line up this year.

Can't believe how many '09 votes there are, that line up was dire. For me it's 2007, which was my first Glastonbury and completely spoiled me because it'll never get beaten.

Yes it is.  This year is better than the others.  IMHO.

Maybe a bit of a knee-jerk reaction?
When looking at the line-ups in their entirety i keep leaning towards one year and then seeing certain acts in a different year and thinking "wow, that one must've been awesome too...". I just can't make a comprehensive decision. More power to you if you can.

So in summary, looks like we need an option for 'I dont care, they are all equally good'.

The only way one has been better than another for me is through personal experiences that have highlighted the festival. But in one way or another, each year has its own memories to stand it out as equally good as all the others.

I would not base it simply on headliners.........but of course its too difficult to look at the whole line ups......I would take the top 4 slots or so from the major stages and try compare them.......

Also looking at some line ups knowing now what we know can make them seem even better then they possibly were..........what could now be considered a major to medium act may be have been a small act or even a "who?"

2003 for me

It was my first year so wasnt sure what to expect.  What I got:

REM:  Got over-excited on the Friday and was in no fit state to tramp the 50 meters from our tent to the Pyramid.  It was so hot me and my other half dragged our bed onto open ground outside our tent and had an incredible time floating on our bed,  smoking, drinking and drifting in and out of reality whilst listening to REM.  Still is one of my most magical festival memories

Radiohead:  Had not been much of a fan but was persuaded down to watch them.  F**K me, I dont think the hairs on my arms went down during the whole set, I was absolutely blown away, the sound quality was incredible and I was totally gone!

Moby:  What can I say about this set? Again I knew his music but this didnt prepare me for how much I would enjoy this.  My crowd went from leaping around like is was 1989 to holding hands and swaying..............and then he played Creep and was in my heart forever.

Not very eloquent but this year had the total package for me :P

True.

We need to look at the criteria more closely and then hire a specialist academic to conduct a study. I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this lol.

Give it away, the Other Stage was pretty good but the Pyramid was awful, last year there was 1 Pyramid act per day that I'd pay money to see.

Interesting to see thus far that the latest years get the votes more so and out of them the Jay Zizzle year aint doing too hot yet......

Are most people on here only going to the fest the last few years? Or is it more like vote for whats most fresh in mind?

I've been crowing about it ever since it was announced.  If it's a knee jerk reaction, my knees are more f**ked than Ledley King's.

The one thing I can't yet compensate for are acts I may have to miss this year, and also acts I may not know about yet.  Maybe the must-see acts I'm looking forward to will all suck, and they'll be replaced by ampersand reading his latest poems?

But looking at it as a line-up in it's own right, and going by the line ups in previous years (I'm sad enough to have racked up more than 16,000 posts on an internet forum - it's safe to say I have the time on my hands) and comparing them all, 2010 is my personal favourite.
