Hi guys,

Would bags of charcoal be allowed into the campsites?

Tried hexi blocks for cooking last year, and they were completely useless, took about 10 mins to heat up (not even boil, luke warm tea, bad times!) a litre of water!

If not, what do you guys normally use?

Cheers

I would assume Charcoal would be allowed yes.

But we always just get a few disposable BBQs or those little things sold on site for cooking cans etc.. they worked pretty good.

Yeah was considering a portable BBQ, but thought if i could take some charcoal, and a BBQ/Oven shelf and fashion something to stand it on, i could get a proper nice little BBQ going for burgers on Wednesday night, and the kettle and bacon sandwiches every morning :P

Yeah I shall be taking a few disposable barbecues.

If you have any excess charcoal, you can always use it to set up a face painting business. You'll only be able to do the Marilyn Manson look though. Either that or something really racist.

yeah that sounds pretty funky. You can buy firewood onsite so i'd assume you could create a square of wood and fill it with charcoal and rest the bbq grill on top. That'd work right?

Hexi burners work really well.  Safer and easier to carry than gas cookers.

Last summer Homebase were selling mini barbeques that were basically a bucket with a grill on the top - perfect for cooking burgers or bacon on. I'll be diggin mine out of the garage this summer.

Yeah the hexamine cookers do look pretty nifty.

BBQ food needs to be fresh so if you're going on the wednesday then it'd be best to cook that first night if you're using a disposable BBQ. After that, you'd be best with pots, pans and tinned food unless you plan on forking out a million quid for a nasty, amphetamine-reared, 10-different-cows burger.

...Or you could always get Pizza Hut/Dominos to deliver.

"Allo... Donimoz, 'ow mey ah take you ordah" *in Urdu*
- Yeah, I'd like to order 17,000 margherita pizzas.
"Ahhhh ok, mah main man... any toppinz?"
- Nah you're alright mate, just cheese and tomato.
"Ahhhhh oh main man... you want drinks?"
- Nah we're alright for that too, WAAAHHEEEEYYYYY *pissed as a fart*
"Ahhhh ok main man... where deliver?"
- Leeds Festival! *sounds air horn*
"Ahhhhh ok... wez tha' main man?"
- Bramham Park, Yorkshire.
"17,000 cheese tomato pizza no drink Broomin Pahkk"
- Yes, mate
"Ok main man, be there 15 minutes"
