The title of the thread pretty much sums it up.

After camping in many different spots over the years (Kidney Mead, Pennards, Crew Camping spots, Dance etc) my group have found what we feel to be a perfect camping spot between Wicket Ground and Long Ground. Its not too loud on a night, there isnt much footfall past your tent, and you are close to the John Peel/Pyramid. Its fab. :P

Where do other people camp and why do you choose the spots you do?

My group is currently undecided between Hawkwell and Dairy Ground / Park Home.

Hawkwell has a sentimental resonance, because it's where we used to camp, and we have a returnee who's back for his first Glasto in 10 years, having been living in Guatemala and the USA.

Dairy Ground / Park Home are strong candidates because we camped in South Park last year, we loved the change, I love the Park area, I feel that being up there leaves you less tethered to the Pyramid aspect of the festival.

Big Ground !

Not sure why , we always do , will be our 8th year there this year.

Walk up muddy lane to where it meets Kidz Field , walk past Reggae Cafe , past a few
tents and there we are.

Long walk back from Stone Circle , but its never a chore.

Weds evening we all sit by our tents and watch the site come alive when lights and fires come
on - we can see most of the site from our spot - and its a lovely sight too !

Dairy Ground methinks.  Reasonably quite with nothing really to the west of it to get to so not alot of foot traffic - plus quite a few of our group can't get down until Thursday which means I am taking their tents down for opening Weds so I don't want to be that far from the gate!!

From a purely selfish view - not too far from the stone circle and the park etc, where I figure I will spend a fair amount of time!  :P

Woodsies or Long Ground.

Near John Peel tent, nice slope to look down from, away from too much noise at night but not too far from the core of the festival.

We think we're heading for wicket ground again this year, housemates camped there in 2008 and I was there in 2009 and was good, convenient for the breakfast bar to the right of the field looking up at the fence, and for the long drops and cut through to the lane down towards the Pyramid etc.

Defo Micheal's Mead again! it does get busy but got to get there early to find spot on top of hill because in rain it is dry and the sight is superb! Plus really close to Pyramid and Peel stages!

One of the good bits is watching them testing the lights in the early hours.

If we are not out clubbing on the Thursday Night / Friday Morning we may sit at our tents
and watch them test U2's

Nice way to spend an hour or so !

A camping chair , beer and plenty smokes seem to always make it interesting !

I'm torn between camp triangle and elsewhere.

Webbs Ash in 99 was my best camping spot, great neighbours, convenient for babylon, pyramid and what's now JP, REALLY busy for traffic, not really for those who expect a quiet couple of hours at any point.

A friend was in michaels/hawkwell/home ground area last year (not sure exactly where, never found her tent:p) and gave great reports.

I was on pennards last year and it sucked.  Neighbours who sneared at me, were generally anti-social and no atmosphere compared to other places I've camped.  Really good access to green fields, stone circle and areas I spend my time in though.

Reading this thread I had a quick look at the differences between 09 and 10 site layouts, the big extra strip of camping along the west from top of paines upwards should make things a little less cramped.  I'm leaning towards park/dairy right now, but I change my mind more often than my pants.

in ! - Bad Glasto  :P

Williams for me again this year!  Have camped there for the last 3 years, is a pretty cool spot.

Do fancy a change but the group I go with won't consider elsewhere & seeing as this is the last one for a few of them, thought would go for it one last time & then break free next year!  :P

Pennards, we're all suckers for a good view, and it's a two minute walk to flag hill. We watched the sun come up on Monday morning last year and it was a bit of an epiphany :P

I'll Be camping In Hawkwell for the 4th year running, it fills up really quickly due to being right next to the pyramid field (but thats one of the joys of living 5 miles away i can put the tents up on wednesday and come home for a bit!!) I think this spot is the best on the site there is nothing better than waking up and watching the first band on the pyramid for your campsite with a bacon butty in hand!!
