One name stands out      The Orb    Apart from that I am uneducated and ambivolent to the other acts.

What can you suggest?   I am pretty sure I am not the only one to find saturday a bit well meh!

Spose the alternative is to really have it on the Friday and then chill all day Saturday?

help

Field Music, Delphic, Foals and The xx is a good few acts on the JP in my view. Then you can also watch poptastic Marina as a guilty pleasure but just pretend you're hanging around because you're seeing the acts either side.

Nothing on Pyramid or Other on Saturday gets me going either.

I've got my sights set on Brother Ali, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Os Mutantes and George Clinton on West Holts, Field Music and Cymbals Eat Guitars on John Peel, and for some house Dubfire and Riva Starr on West Dance and Freq Nasty at the Glade. Few clashes to work out yet.

Also Kelis, who's a huge booking that appears to have been forgotten about, with the rest of the East Dance Saturday line-up being largely dross.

Were clashes not an issue i'd be watching
Brother Ali, Phenominal Handclap Band, The National, Band of Skulls, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Neville Staple, Seasick Steve, Imelda May, Jerry Dammers, George Clinton, Pet SHop Boys and Midlake to name but a few.

But as there are clashes and i'll be pi$$ed, stoned and lazy i'll be watching considerably fewer of them.

There's 13 people I'd ideally like to see on the Saturday ,compared to just 9 on Friday and 12 on Saturday. I know I'm unlikely to see anyway near as many as I'd like to but Saturday is the strongest day in my opinion.

Saturday is the day I expect to discover something great.

Must sees:

Lightning Seeds/Reef - potential clash here.
Seasick Steve
Midlake

Otherwise, a day of trying something new.  Not sure about the footy (if we're playing of course).  Could well be a day of bimbling around.

Lightning Seeds will be wonderful for some ridiculous teenage nostalgia :P

I do like Marina and the Diamonds as well - pure pop which'll be awesome if the weather's good. Plus she covers a Late of the Pier song which makes me happy!

Youtube Stornoway - if they're the band I'm thinking of they have a guy who plays trombone in a horse head mask - pretty random and good fun!

Also - The Wurzles!! Seriously, if you're at a loss, couldn't be more suited to a sunny saturday morning, cider in hand. So much fun at Camp Bestival last year.

Hope you find some good stuff :P Nothing ever wrong with a bimble tho! I like the Circus Field in the lulls. Always fun stuff going on in there.

My rough Saturday plan includes:

Two Door Cinema Club, Reef, A Bar (then probably another Bar) Delphic, Marina & The Diamonds, England winning at footy, Laura Marling and The Lightning Seeds, Arcadia/Trash.

In fairness there's some stuff I'm not too bothered about missing and I may even head over to the Green Fields for a bit instead (never really explored there).

Agreed! A huge booking....and little or no publicity.
She sounded great in 2000 (I think) in the old dance tent...

I've also picked out George Clinton, Neville Staple, Devandra Banhart, Cate le Bon, The Orb and On-U Sound. Doesn't seem too shabby to me.

THE NATIONAL

Also, if you're going to miss them on Sunday, get yourself down to the Queen's Head and see the best live band I've ever seen, Holy f**k. Though they're better in the middle of the night
