I haven't seen Fatboy Slim in years, he used to be ace, then he went off a little and I stopped bothering to go and see him. I've been looking at some videos on youtube from gigs this year and last and it seems that nowadays he's doing a "greatest hits" type of set, which I'd really not be into.
Just wondering if anyone had any opinion of what he is like now.

saw him at oxjam last yr. did a kind of greatist hits set but mixed it in with loads of other new tunes so it flowed really well and never seemed like a 'best of' set. dunno if thats what he'd do at a bigger gig though

He's currently recovering from the first ever Brighton Marathon which happened this past Sunday where apparently thousands of people took great delight in shouting messages of support as he past by...'Run Fatboy run'...!!!

Last saw him in 2005 @ The Other Stage, had a great time, lots of beers, danced in the mud - but I didn't agree with some of his mixing or cutting records short.

Sober doesn't sound like much fun...neither does running marathons..nor does playing greatest hits sets.

Just hopeful speculation that didn't come off.. Are you off to Sonar this year? They've been confirmed there!

I don't mind him. If he's bloody father-in-law comes anywhere near me, he's getting a punch up the bracket!

I think that he will defo be worth catching this year mate. There are a few nightmare clashes when he is headlining but I get the impression that he will be the one worth heading over to see. With regards to his mixing I am pretty sure his setup is thread through software such as ableton or reason now so it is going to be tightly locked down.
Last time I saw him in 2007 he was chopping up all his famous tracks and swapping in new crazy funk basslines. Push the Tempo!

i like Fatboy but his enormous success always baffled me. i had a few seasons working in Ibiza at the start of the 2000s, and he'd come over for a few weeks each year and wherever he played would be roadblocked. i never saw another DJ who could pull a crowd like him, despite his sets always having the same tunes in (has he ever played a set that doesn't include Born Slippy?) and his often awful mixing.
met him a few times though and he was always very nice.
