It's supposed to be that way, will always be biased towards electronic acts.

Best way if you ask me :P

Same here, I've got other festivals to go to for Indie/Rock, at Rockness I'm there mostly for the Electronic.

Exactly my feeling, I don't really give the bands a second look at Rockness. Not many bands that would pull my attention.

I'm just so excited there is going to be a Strongbow tent!  At last, something I won't grudge buying :P

Apart from Leftfield, the Sunday line up is what I'm looking forward to the most.  Think I'll be bouncing off every tent in the arena!

Getting far too excited!!

Was the original idea of Rockness not to bring a version of Fatboy Slim's beach party to Scotland?
And therefore was it's initial aim not to be a dance festival?
Get rid of the bands and non-dance acts altogether and i'd be a happy man.

Hmmmmm - appreciate that the majority of you want to see dance/elctro bands - but why then is it called Rockness? maybe call it Danceness lol.

I wouldn't be going if it wasn't for a couple of the Rocky bands and Leftfield TBH. Each to their own of course.

Out of interest would the event have enough pulling power to be economical if it was all dance/Electro?, if the answer is no, then the promoters are in danger of alienating the Indi/rock fans by having so little bands on compared to the Dance/Electro - 80/20 someone said earlier in the thread. just an observation.

Roll on June :P

It was called Rockness on the first year when there was only dance acts (as far as I know).
It rolls of the tongue, is a play on words etc. It's just a name.

Ask Creamfields, ask Global Gathering and so on. Of course it would. If they invested the money spent on indie acts and bands to expand the line-up to include different types of dance acts and a similar callibre of acts as the aformentioned festivals then it would definitely be financially viable imo.

Fail! :P Creamfields got plenty cream? Glastonbury's closest village is Pilton, not Glastonbury etc etc "Danceness" doesn't roll off the tongue the same and has been said before the first Rockness was ALL dance.

Personally don't mind a few bands being there but lets be honest people who want to see bands are well catered for in Scotland and UK, it's fine the way it is. Long live the dance dominace at Rockness in my view.

I go elsewhere for my rock fill.

Im assuming in terms of festivals and big gig venus such as MEN, SECC, and o2 etc. The majority of the acts at Rockness tend to tour the smaller concert halls or the clubs.

He may have been meaning places T, V, Leeds and Reading, Download, Isle of Wight etc

T in the Park, Belladrum, Wickerman, Wizard, Loopalu etc etc

Down south you got all the main ones like Glasto, R&Ls, Vs, Download, Sonisphere, IOW then all the smaller ones. Plenty to choose from, dance heads don't have any up here bar *cough cough* colours so I think one medium festival biased towards dance is no bad thing.

Some of the above mentioned festivals have shocking headliners IMHO.  I would have liked to have seen Rockness stick with getting eclectic acts like The Flaming Lips and The Aliens, as well as all the good electronic stuff.  I've no interest in indie-landfill pish.

I think there's a gap in the market to be filled following the collapse of Connect.  Some sort of Scottish Bestival or Latitude.

Im really pleased that there's no Flaming Lips etc this year. Don't get me wrong I'm not a dance junkie, I mean I love from Queens Of The Stone Age to Seasick Steve but I really thought The Flaming Lips were awful,  watched the whole thing as well. Only thing I thought was good was the stage show! Each to their own though.

This years Friday - Fatboy, Pendulum & Booka Shade = F**K YEAH!

it's a dance festival with a few bands playing. that's what it's been since 2007 and thats the way it should always be. if anyone wants more bands, go somewhere else. there's plenty of others festivals to choose from.
