i'm hidiously awful at putting up tents, and can drag it out into hours. i know that many people don't like the shape you have to carry it in and what not, but i have decided on a pop up tent for this years glasto! i want to be tented and good to go! :P

so what is the best pop up tent to get? i've read that the "gelert" ones arent so good.

It's been said a thousand times, but as long as you have a HH of at least 2000 and its not single skinned then you can't go wrong ...

I've a 2 man Quecha one which I only use for solo camping trips.  We're taking a mates 4 man tunnel tent t Glasto again.  If you're anywhere near Sheffield and want to borrow it PM me.

We've got a gelert twister 4 and it does the job !

Took a bit of practice getting it back in the bag but its a doddle now.

Yeah - practise putting it back in the bag.  Once you've got the nack, it's fine.  But just getting the nack can be awkward!

I know a boarder has one of those big 2 berth jobs and she can put it down in 2 minutes. Awesome.

One day, just one day. There will be a point to what I say.  :P

Pop ups are awesome for convenience but be warned that they can also be a right pain in the arse if the Weather's bad. No problems with waterproofing but the lack of a porch or additional compartment is a right shitter when you've got a load of wet/muddy gear you need to store. It can be quite mingin when your bed's soaked and covered in mud.
I've gone the Pop up route the last two Glastos and they served me admirably but i'm going back to a regular one this year. I'd recommend you seriously consider getting a normal dome tent. It's a pain to put up but well worth it in the long run. I'm sure you could get some kind soul to help you as well.
You also avoid looking like a Ninja Turtle when carrying the thing.

The best pop-up is this one:

I have one of those 2 man Gelert ones that was cow print :P as has been mentioned waterproofing was excellent even with build up of water on the roof cause i didnt bother pinning it down properly no leakages.

Also as mentioned when wet weather strikes can be a bit of a problem since it has no porch type area... my way around this was wellies off outside into the tent wellies into a plastic black bag to stop them making a mess sorted.

I'm tempted to go halves with a mate for a pop up but the lack of the porch (as mentioned above) does seem a bit of an inconvenience! How heavy are the buggers?

The one posted earlier without a porch is 3.7kg and £44.99.

Posted Image

why not get a 1 man each for £19.99 and only 2.4kg.

Posted Image

or go for a 2 man each at £29.99 and only 2.7kg.

WOAH don't get a 1 man tent...you may be able to get in but anything else is not possible... work on the +1 rule... a 2 man tent for 1 person... a 3 man for 2 ppl... 4 man for 3... etc
