Hi,
I know its a music festival and a lot of people aren't interested in the football, but I just wondered if anyone knows whether there are plans to show the 2nd round England game.
If all goes to plan we should be playing on the saturday night but there is no mention of any football in the weekend line up.
Just wondered if any of you have heard anything. Surely they cant risk people trying to leave the festival in large numbers to watch the game...
I dont want to start a "should football be at glasto" debate, I know everyone has their own views on that but would just like to know.
Thanks,

Rumours say it'll be in the cinema field. Certainly makes the most sense.

I don't think anything has been confirmed one way or the other to be honest.
Though the gap in the Pyramid Stage late afternoon on the Saturday could be a hint?
I hope they show it up at Flagtopia or something so those who want to watch it can. I don't think I will. As much as I'm a footy obsessive, the line up is just too good this year.
We'll just have to wait and see what the organisers decide to do.

I hear you. Wednesday afternoon I'm well up for that one - but once the music properly kicks off, I think I can miss a couple of games of togger.

What time is the kick off? Or is it dependant where they come in their group?

It would be very silly indeed, but didn't they do something similar in 1998?
Like I said, I hope they show it somewhere, but I'd say I'm more likely to be watching bands due to the quality of the line up.
I also think the cinema would be too small to show it if they keep it by the acoustic field.

We will win that group.
The game will be on Saturday.
No Foals or Cribs for me

I disagree.
I'm a much bigger music fan than I am a football fan but we've got 3 days of solid music, thousands of acts and thousands of hours of music, I don't think a 2 hour break to watch England play in a world cup would be an unpopular choice, I think it would be packed.
There are plenty of other stages.

The atmostphere would be just as good if not better than any band that could play at that time.

Maybe not every band, but I do agree with you.
The Thursday of 2004 they showed the England/Portugal game on the big screens either side of the Pyramid. It was absolutely packed and there was a superb atmosphere (even though we lost).
Anyway, I thought if we win the group we play Saturday, and if we are runners-up we play Sunday?
IF they show it, I think it will be at the cinema as that's where they showed the Rugby last year.
Tbh, im more concerned they wont show the Wednesday game due to licensing issues more than the Saturday/Sunday game (which I think they will show).

Another factor to take into account about the footie being shown on the pyramid stage is it could go to extra time and penalties, it is England and it could be Germans as well.

It won't be on the Pyramid. It will be on at an insanely packed Cinema Field I expect. Atmosphere in 2004 was insanely good. Can't wait.

That's why the TBC are on at the Pyramid. Makes sense. Now which act(s) will cover should no game be shown?
