Ive got to say that im very dissapointed with this years lineup. I was expecting big things considering its the 4oth aniversary. Sorry people, but it just doesnt cut the mustard with me. I think i will spend alot of the time up in shagra-la and arcadia getting out of it.

I needed some Hootie and The Blowfish, Symposium and Dexys Midnight Runners to meet my expectations. Michael Eavis should be sacked!!!!!!!!
And Bananarama (which I just found quite difficult to spell and may still have it wrong)!

Sorry you're disappointed and all that, but at the end of the day it is an excellent lineup.
Genuine question, and without sounding arsey: What exactly were people expecting??
something like................. david bowie, the stones, the libertines, chemical brothers, was hoping for kasabian, noel gallagher, united nations of sound, robert plant, coldplay, plus loads of others. thats my opinion anyway siiiiiiiiiiiiimples

The Line-up shouldn't be impervious to criticism. There was talk of huge bands playing lower down the bill and acts from all 40 years of the festival. None of that came to pass so I can see his point.
There's about 20 bands I want to see though which is pretty spot on, I'm pleased!

I think it's fine but I was expecting something out of this world. It's not hit the Wow factor I thought it was going to.
Mind you the TBA's opening each day might just tke it from a what you expect line up to something very special

I'd also have loved Kasabian to play. Same with Coldplay, but I think there's still a chance they will appear on the Friday
Oh and David Bowie would have been awesome, but I suppose ME isn't a miracle worker

A lot of new stuff I've never seen - so I'm scared!!
Would like what I call one of my reliables (someone I've seen loads of times and never fails) - hoping Weller or Ian Brown maybe as one of the openers.
Still loads to keep me going.
Was asked last year by someone who would I like to see most live that I hadnn't already and I answered Wonder - so happy out!

David Bowie turned down the chance to play, as did the stones, The Libertines can't be announced officially but could easily still play, Chemical Brothers look likely to play, Kasabian wouldn't play again at a lower slot as they're headlining V, Noel Gallagher is only playing two solo shows anywhere this year and didn't want to play, United Nations have no official material as of yet, Robert Plant has been confirmed by Scissor Sisters as playing and Coldplay will almost certainly open the pyramid.

+1
It is a good line-up, but I hope some surprises are still to be announced. If not, I was deffo expecting more.

The level of pessimism and sheer bloody minded whingeing that goes on here is astounding sometimes.
Yes it's the 40th Anniversary, but let's not forget that the budgetary constraints are still the same. They've done what they always manage to do, get some big acts, some popular acts, some slightly niche acts but it's a good, solid, eclectic line up of very talented artists just like always seems to be and anyone who argues with that should cancel their ticket and spend the money having their head surgically removed from their arse or having some attitude correctional counselling.
Yes there are some acts I'd hoped for who aren't there and there are times in the schedule when there isn't an act I know well playing but so what? Gives you the chance to chill, talk to randoms, check out something new etc etc.
I'm so excited I could piss myself. What's wrong with you people!!!!

I Agree its not a stellar line up considering it's the 40th anniversary - few gems in there but a lot of filler too but I guess one mans filler is another mans main course. the Cure and Bowie would have obv been amazing for the 40th but like people have said they can only book whos willing/available - I hope they pull some big guns out of the bag for the TBCs though
For me, of the bigger names/established bands its :
Muse - yes I know they've grown into a bit of a stadium rock band now but they're still a great band for us rock musos (no pun intended)
Flaming Lips - I will NOT be going to listen to the sanctamonious rantings of St Bono
Faithless
Seasick Steve
Stevie Wonder (although he clashes with NMA and Rodrigo Y Gabriella - Arse!)
I'm also gonna go see Snoop Dogg - I reckon it'll be a larf
I've also been spotify-ing a few of the lesser known bands (lesser known to me that is
) and so Far i like the sound of Cymbals eat Guitars, The xx and Holy f**k

I think that is true for every festival, not just Pilton.
At the end of the day, you pay for a service and if there is a big build up, like there was for this year, than obviously peeps will expect something extraordinary.
"The most staggering line up to match the 40-year reputation of the Festival", as Mr Eavis is selling it, it certainly is not.
As to cancelling my ticket? I probably won't if you don't mind, even though having my head removed surgically does sound rather tempting but having it stuck quite far up your own a*** obviously works as well !!!
