Neil Tennant also made me chuckle, he really couldn't keep that grin of his face could he.
A slight grin from Neil is very animated for him as you probably know. Was good to know he was overwhelmed with the occasion rather than just going through the motions. I enjoyed it alot and I'm not a massive fan.

Seems PSBs equally enjoyed it - here is what he wrote on their website -
"Playing Glastonbury last night was a fantastic experience. Having such a big, singalong, up-for-it audience made it one of the most thrilling shows ever for us. Thanks to everyone who came to see us, Glastonbury
for inviting us back after 10 years, and also the BBC for broadcasting it live. Neil x"

Setlist requested earlier, this from another website....
'Heart'
'Did You See Me Coming?'
'Love Etc'
'Pandemonium'
'Building A Wall'
'Go West'
'Two Divided By Zero'
'Why Can't We Live Together?'
'New York City Boy'
'Always On My Mind'
'Closer To Heaven'
'Left To My Own Devices'
'Do I Have To?'
'King’s Cross'
'Jealousy'
'Suburbia'
'What Have I Done To Deserve This?'
'All Over The World'
'Se A Vida É'
'Viva La Vida'/'Domino Dancing'
'It's A Sin'
'Being Boring'
'West End Girls'
So 5 off the new (2009) album without anyone so far saying these detracted.... cos they didn't.
No Flambouyant or Streets Have No Names though. Strenght of back catalogue, although the U2 cover would have been appropriate. I missed the Viva La Vida bit though.

Indeed. Huge grins allround. Marvellous stuff it was.

Really wanted to see the Editors (Pyramid) and Dreadzone (the Glade) so logistically it had to be the Pet Shop Boys.
I justified it with the fact I'm sure I a can name more Petshop Boy songs than Muse songs, plus you've got to support your fellow geordies. (My sister used to do Neil Tennant's mother's hair)
Personally it took a while to get into it, but when I did,I did.

It was great. A friend of mine was crying afterwards because she loved it so much

I came over all emotional too. Partly because the twins who were dancing up there are really good friends of ours and was really cool to see them up on stage - they were both punters at Glasto in 2008, partly because of the strength of the performance and partly because the songs that I recognised transferred me back twenty odd years to when I used to love the band and I kinda started regressing back into my youth. I was well into them up until Introspective, and know all the words to everything prior to that.
What have I done to deserve this was fantastic, as was Left to my Own Devices and Suburbia.
Only quibble was why no Rent?
Going to see them in Brighton next week now

Then please pass on the compliments of not only me but my elderly grandparents watching on TV, as we all agreed the dancers were fantastic

Best show of the whole weekend, by a mile. There were many tears shed during Jealousy but the rest of the time it was full on singalong, hands in the air euphoria. And that version of It's A Sin? Rave-bloody-tastic!
Christ, they were wonderful.

I was torn on who to see on the saturday night, but I'm so glad I saw this set, and it looks like it was a hit with everyone else
My general rule is that if I have a clash situation and I've seen a band before, then I will go with the other, so PSB it was! I've liked them since they first came out (giving away my age a little, I was still a child back then!) and I was amazed just how much of the lyrics I still remember from that long ago
The dancers were ace, especially the twins, they were really cool

I had waited 16 long years to see them play. I got 'Actually' for a Xmas present back in 1986 and would and could play all the tunes in my Casio keyboard. I've never seen them perform before and was air keyboarding throughout the show.
It was amazing when I realised I could remember every word from Kings Cross and yet probably haven't heard it played in over ten years!
A wonderful show. As Caitlin Moran said in Monday's Times Celebrity Watch maybe next year we should have 'Asstonbury' with all the top gay bands and performers! Elton, PSB, Kylie, Gaga and so on. Glasto was a dazzilingly brilliant New York club from 8pm onwards on Saturday

I must eat my words. Earlier in this thread I remarked that they shouldn't headline the other stage but should be 2nd or 3rd from top on Pyramid. This was before I knew about their elaborate live show.
As Laura Marling finished, I was still unsure about what to do for saturday headliners. Then I heard the irresistible synths of pet shop boys on the other stage. I got down there sharpish, made my way down towards the front as speedy as possible. Despite only knowing 4 of their songs, I was astouned by their set. I was dancing along to every tune and was incredibly moved by their remarkable live setup.
I am now a full convert & have ordered them live at the O2 last year on CD & DVD. PEREFECT & REMARKABLE OTHER STAGE HEADLINERS.

I begrudgingly agreed to have a 'camp' Saturday night with the missus and go against all my principles and watch Scissor Sisters & then PSB's.
I must admit it was one of the best decisions I ever made and the night will always be remembered as one of my classic Glasto moments!!

brandycoke, on 22 April 2010 - 12:37 PM, said:Never liked the Pet shop boys , probably down to the fact that Neil Tennant has the most annoying voice ever.
When Bono sang "I want to run , i want to hide" at the opening to "where the streets have no name" you could hear the urgency and sense of desperation in his voice......yet when Neil Tennant sang the same lyric, you knew that he really just wanted to be chased round his garden.
Could start a new thread on absoultely piss poor cover songs.
BC, you're funny! Are you a Roundhead General by any chance?
As for PSB covers - Always On My Mind is waaaaay better than the original!
And West End Girls being sung line for line by tens of thousands Glasto-goers on Saturday night had me in goosebumps.

Have Erasure ever done Glastonbury? Now that would have been a 1,2 to remember

A friend of our group joined us on friday and didn't stop going on that he couldn't wait to see Muse, 3 songs in to Muse I got bored and he and my fiance were dragged kicking to see PSB's, and I am pleased to say they absolutely loved it (they are my both younger than me and probably don't share the same love for camp classics!) I am, however, pleased that we also wondered back to catch the Edge and Muse. Absolutely amazing Glastonbury evening.
Actually was the first album the I brought (and it was on tape!) and I think I may go hunt it down on itunes now
If Erasure ever play, that would be Immense!
