I really do not get it. I can not see anyone really wanting to go and see these apart from a few old timers who are stuck in the 80’s. am I alone with these views? Are there any people on here who will be going west to see these persons?
I am genuinely interested.

I'll go watch them. In part because some friends of mine are dancing and singing with them. In part because I used to like them - Please, Actually, Disco and Introspective were great albums.
They are popular enough. They sold out the O2 in December, and play the arenas on their tour.

I'll be there - cheeky sod. Old timers stuck in the 80's? Their last album was brilliant. Its like saying those seeing Stevie are old timers stuck in the 70's.
Surely its seeing a band who have been successful through the decades and who continue to release excellent music. Most of the indie shit which is around nowadays are unlikely to have success 10, 20 30+ years on - many unlikely to make it to the end of THIS decade!

I've got to admit, i'm not a fan of the Pet Shop Boys. The most over-rated band ever.

They're one of the best pop bands ever.
They have some brutal tunes
They're meant to be brilliant live.
I fancy seeing them, but they're headlining Primavera so I might go to Muse even though I was planning to sack them off

They normally put on a very theatrical and brilliant live show, whether they can do that on the Other Stage I dont know, its a real clash for me, because although I love Muse I have seen them loads, but I havent seen the PSB for about 15 years

im torn, was looking for an alternative from the pyramid for the night, i grew up with the pet shop boys and pretty much have all their early stuff on 12" single and album in the loft. sort of grew out of them by the 90's and moved on to other stuff. i have fond memories of their early stuff so i could be persuaded. trouble is i also fancy seeing the lightening seeds / alabama 3 on the avalon

Dreadful band, I will be anywhere they are not. One of the few acts on the lineup I literally detest.
I can see the appeal though and they are probably worthy other stage headliners.

I missed muse in 2000 (got mugged on sat night and then our lift announced he couldn't make it to pick us up so we cadged a lift sunday morning) but saw PSB that year. I had hoped they would have the same pyramid slot as madness last year so I could do the feel good singalong bit, but I shall have to go to muse.
I know some people will be "eh?" over this, but I think it's a great booking, just not the right slot.
If I could see them this year I would, but I won't. Hope people enjoy it.

Swap them with Orbital or Chemical Brothers and I'd be ecstatic.. PSB do nothing for me though

I used to love the Pet SHop Boys. Saw them in 2000 at Glasto and they were brilliant. Will definitely be catching some of thier set before heading to Midlake

Loved Suburbia and Paninero (Disco Version). I got into them late I think. At the time I think I thought they were just another plastic pop band. I don't generally think that synth bands are usually particularly talented, but I like the Pet Shop Boys. Saw Muse last time. Might go, might not. George Clinton as well, The Beat always rock, hmmm, PSB means an easier route to the end of Nbubz I reckon, but I think it's the start of that set will possibly be the fun bit? Are they the "young persons band" that was alluded to?I really do not get it. Anyway, surely it's the La Roux crowd that are stuck in the '80s.

I like the Pet shop boys, but it's a bit of a strange booking - the other stage is meant for more alternative acts, like Gorillaz (I wish). They would certainly be a great act on the pyramid but I'm just very surprised they are headlining the other and not 2nd/3rd from top on Pyramid.
Either way, I'll be at Muse or Jamie T!

give Pandemonium a listen... OK, not as good as the early stuff, but a nice listen.

And I positively dislike t'Other stage as well - have never yet seen a headliner there, just a few afternoon(ish) gigs over the years that's all ! Thing is tho, I've seen Muse a few times and whilst they're always bl**dy excellent I haven't seen PSB live and almost certainly wouldn't ever go to one of their gigs so it's an opportunity I'm finding very difficult to miss. Any festival in general (and Glasto in particular) is all about seeing/doing stuff I wouldn't normally even consider in my book so it really looks like Muse and Levellers in particular are going to get dropped this year in favour of taking advantage of opportunities unlikely to present themselves again any time soon
I would defo agree that it's a bit of a strange choice for headliner booking tho but less of the "stuck in the 80's" tag please ... although the "old b*gger" bit is more than fair game I spose

This is one band i really have never liked, would prefer them not to be there, but at least i don't have to watch them,no doubt they will draw a big crowd though....Don't really see why though.

So all in all I am not alone, apart from a few people. So that is 2 people attending their gig. Good turn out
If they sell out arenas then I am sure then will do fine. I am not sure where I will be o sat night, more than likely be George Clinton as nothing appeals to me at all on sat night (seen muse too many times, hate n dubs and well the rest just do not appeal).
But I also expected them to play, when strong rumoured, 2 down from the headlining act at the pyramid. Maybe I am being biased as I think they are really sh1t. They are certainly original with what they do but a man farting balloons out of his ass is original but it does not mean it is good.

I saw them twice on thier tour last year. They were brilliant. With a back catalogue like thiers the set they play will be class.
Personally its my highlight of the weekend along with the national!!

they have had a big resurgence lately with brandon flowers and lady gaga calling them a big influence, along with the many synth bands around. I think it's great to have so many different styles, they are another welcome facet to the festival. They should be on the other stage sunday really with a proper build-up from new bands that are more influenced by them.
