goin back to the original post about playing lower down the bill, what about Groove Armada? Their playing what is deemed to be the 'new band tent' admittedly headlining it, but they should be headline material for say the other stage (instead of pet shp boys) or 1 of the dance arenas, or even as a special guest slot on pyramid. don't care either way really i'll there dancing my tits off anyway!

The John Peel tent is not a "New Band" tent............grant lesser know acts dominate the line up historically but it is no way a new band tent
BBC entroducing is yer place to be for that lark!

I agree Saturday looks to be by far the weakest day. I am convinced the TBAs on the pyramind will have at least one or two biggish acts. Robert Plant would be a godsend but I still think it's unlikely.
The National on the other stage shines out like a beacon of hope for me and for now Midlake on the Park is my most likely headliner destination, though I'm not so keen on their latest album. Saturdays are sometimes fun for some dance village action, but the saturday there this year is the worst line up I have ever seen (east Dance anyway). There will be horrific scenes around the place on the saturday and I want to be nowhere near it.

I think someone said a few weeks ago that the 'New Bands Tent' means 'a new tent for bands', not 'a tent for new bands'.
If that makes sense?

Historically it was called the "New Band Tent".
But soon there were bands performing there that certainly couldn't be described as "New". I think some people tried to justify it by saying it was "New (Band Tent)" rather than "(New Band) Tent".
But now it's called the John Peel Tent, there's no need to stress about that.

One of the best fun gigs you can go to! They are a great show! But yeah, Sat is not ubber strong
Ive seen them before at the Picnic mate. Thought it was a laugh but Other Stage Sat night headliner material? Nah. Bit too middle-class-cod-ironic-isnt-it-going-to-be-soooper for me.

Ah well you know what it is about so..........
Yeah, I was taken aback myself that they were the actual headline act! Was sure it would be the Chems or maybe even Massive Attack, whilst praying it would turn out to be a Portishead or Daft Punk surprise!
Well it may simply be nice to wander during a headline act this year on the Sat. Have you ever done that or have you always been at one of the main stages at that time? Could be a new Glasto experience.........

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you high?!
There is no way Biffy are bigger than Scissor Sisters - their debut album sold more than all of Biffy's combined and doubled

However Darren Emerson and Hexstatic were playing the Dance Village so if your cup of tea.........

I have noticed that
Frank Turner is playing well down the line up and on a small stage, I'm fairly certain he'll be doing more than 1 set prob be headline in the leftfield.
Plan B is playing a bit of a small stage I'd have expected him on the JP about 3 or 4 from top or even low down the other.
Newton Faulkner would have to big of a draw to play the avalon

for me its the strongest Pyramid day of the weekend, that said onyl 4 pyramid acts I want to see so far, 2 on the sat (Seasick Steve and Muse) and the Saturday still hase half the pryamid bands to annonce!

Funny, a lot of people saying Sat is the weakest but it's the one day i'm struggling to decide on.
I want to see... Band of Skulls
Dreadzone
Stornoway
Laura Marling (looking unlikely
)
The National
Jackson Browne
Now it's unlikely that there won't be terrible clashes for these, but as for 2nd and headliner - at this point i'm thinking of camping it up and doing Scissor Sisters before Pet Shop Boys before heading for night time dancing.
But back to the the OP, I always thought they meant that Coldplay and some others, announced or starting the proceedings was the meaning of bigger bands being lower than normal?
You won't hear about most of the surprise and hidden guests until afterwards, so bit early to judge that comment methinks.

I'm only planning on going to the Pyramid 4 times this year and Scissor Sisters will be for one of them. I've seen them live a couple of times and loved them plus they've got a new album coming out. They are a big band worthy of their place they just haven't had new stuff out for a couple of years.

Over the 3 days, looking at what we know about all the 4 main venues, there are only 4 acts I have in mind as must see: Reef, We Are Scientists, Faithless, Stevie Wonder. You may have noticed that the latter 3 are all on Sunday.
However.
I'm ecstatic with the overall line up. There are so many great great artists on the smaller stages that I'm drooling with fervour at the prospect. My advice to the OP and all the other pissing and moaning bastards on here is, get off your arse, try tearing yourself away from the f**king deck chair in the Pyramid field and go for a wander with an open mind.

Blimey some of the moaning on here is really beginning to piss me off!!!!
Name a festival where every single act is a favourite.
Chill out enjoy the fest & check out something different.
Myself I am pleased PSB are playing as I would never go to one of their gigs, didn't they play the pyramid stage in 2000???
Dizzee Rascal will be great as will Scissor Sisters, they where great in 04 / 05 not sure when.
Myself I am most looking forward to is Empire Of The Sun, everything else is gonna be a bonus for me...
