To be fair, the Pyramid stage line-up on Saturday is poor, but I hardly went anywhere near the bloody thing last year and still had way, way too much to see and do. People complaining about clashes have much more of my sympathy.
I would say though that there are a couple of really odd stagings. I think Vampire Weekend and Grizzly Bear are wasted where they are, like the Fleet Foxes last year.
I saw VW at Brixton in February, and I think they'll struggle to engage the no doubt already huge U2 crowd. Should have put Shakira on then instead *sniffs*.
And I can't see the wonderful Grizzlies working on the Other Stage on a Sunday afternoon, even if it's pissing down, which of course it won't be. :P

“Zeppelin were down as a rumour, they’re not anymore boo hoo hoo”

Except you're taking that too far. It's precisely my point that no one has the right to be 'pissed off' at anything, it's those sort of people who really annoy me.

But, when Neil has started a thread saying "Stone me - it could be" I don't think there's anything wrong with being a bit disappointed when it doesn't happen. Ditto when people see Prince playing a summer festival.

It's just people's thoughts and opinions.

I think it's fairly unlikely that all the: "f**k me shakira, f** me eavis, f**k me glastonbury" comments are from people who have had extensive orthopaedic surgery. I will still stand corrected and humbled if they have.

Who are the "great" acts on the Saturday?

I'm sure someone more adept than I can dig a quote from you from this very forum where you say "It's a music festival, first and foremost." Think it might have been about JayZ, the year when you decided to go to a festival with a better line up.

No one is having a whinge. We all want the best festival possible.
Everyones having a whinge!

And yes, I didnt whinge, I went to a different festival.

1.) Do something else, theres LOADS to do.
2.) Don't go.

As for the “great” acts on the Saturday. really looking forward to seeing any of the following: Seasick Steve, George Clinton with Parliament/Funkadelic, Jerry Dammers Spatial aka Orchestra, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba, The Orb, Christy Moore, Nick Lowe and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.

Apart from Christy and Steve Harley, I havent seen any of those bands.

And I wont even get to see half of them! Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba in particular is a treat.

Well I am glad people are seeing sense here. It is never about that you can't have your opinion on the acts performing that's fine, personal choice and up for debate. It was more about the negative, verging on hate for the festival in general that got my goat up (whatever that means? whats a goat got to do with anything :P ).

Besides the only thing that will really make a difference is the weather. So start your worshiping!!!  :P

The following would be my on my "more than watchable" list alongside Christy and Nick Lowe from yours.

Muse
Jackson Browne
Pet Shop Boys
The Cribs
Reef
Foals
Delphic
Field Music
Os Mutantes
Devendra Banhart
Imelda May
Laura Marling
Stornoway
Beach House
Charlie Winston
Band of Skulls
Holy F*ck

If I was to catch 3 or 4 of the above  - super. Are any of them "great" however?  :P Seen a couple of them before, have a record or two from another couple. Most of them are pleasant enough - but "great"?

Doubt it.

The Fri/Sun however are heaving with acts you could consider "great"... the Saturday is woefully imbalanced IMO. It wasnt just Michael that was going on about the potential of the 40th year. eFests had Led Zeppelin as a rumour till recently. Less of the agression chief.

People are allowed express their disappointment. "We're not taking your turn Dude."

Yeah, that is a good. 2 of the shitest albums I've heard recently more like.

v/w are the most piss-poor band to grace the pyramid stage ever in my opinion, and i really cant believe they are so high on the billing. theyre music irritates me nearly as much as jamie cullums, but they are popular amongst some, so get over it, theres plenty of other to stages to go and stand infront of.

Firstly I do get the point your trying to illustrate, but if you think Vampire Weekend are the worst band to grace the Pyramid you never saw either The Spin Doctors or if my memory serves me correctly Phish opening it one year.

Plus I  do realise you mention in your opinion ! :P

Phish? worst band to grace the pyramid?!?!?! you should count yourself lucky to have seen them at Glasto.

honestly, that has to be one of the silliest things ever written on this forum. ever.

I'm not a big fan of Phish, but i at least have utmost respect for the fact that they represent the best musicianship you'll find in a band over the past few decades. GF bookers would kill for another Phish appearance at Glasto.

i'd be keen to see what you're planning on seeing at Glasto this year or what u've enjoyed past years, to perhaps get some insight into your Phish statement. just off the bat i'm guessing u like Kasabian...

sorry if i come across as harsh, but that really is one of the stupidest things i've ever seen written on here.

All the best to you as well tevaburger.

I'm guessing you didn't see the performance in question, so I'll happily keep my own opinion of it thanks as I was there to be able to see it and comment on it.

No one's questioned their musicianship but I'm perfectly entitled to my opinion of what I saw that particular day without being called stupid by you.

As for Kasabian, not really my cup of tea although I did once see them play a decent set in a tent at Coachella a few years ago.

In terms of assuming my musical tastes or otherwise you further show your own ignorance as a simple look at my avatar will at least give you one clue.

well, silly me for missing that then.

it's just that here we are bitching about Shakira, and lesser acts on the pyramid that have been booked this yr and of all the bands to have ever graced that stage to say were the worst you pick  ... Phish!

granted i wasn't there that rainy mornign in '97, but i can't imagine they were that dire. i assume it's just not your cup of tea at all. They are regarded as probably as good as any band performing live on the planet. If Glasto were able to book them for 2011 - which they wouldn't be able to do, as they only do 3 hr sets - they'd be headlining the Park or in a prominent midday Pyramid slot. They headlined 2 of the 3 nights of the Bonnarroo festie last year in the US. i'm sure you would have loved to have been there.

wasnt calling u stupid, was just suggesting that you were not aware of Phish's generally deserved reputation in the music industry.

I have a crappy boot somewhere of their performance at Glasters - first two songs were "Wilson" and "Chalk Dust Torture"... also played "Stash". Not the worst!?

The "Phaithful" won't be happy with their geeky heroes being denegrated on here. In fairness if youre not into it Phish could sound like absolute bongwater Teva. Most of their recorded stuff is awful.

Teva, I've a simple philosophy when ever I'm watching live music, I disregard reputations good or bad and simply judge on what I hear myself.

Far too many people are sheep !

let's see Phish...1997. when they were starting their "Great Went' weekend shows on a huge airbase in their home state of Maine with 70,000, and then playing Madison Sq Garden for 3 nights including new year's eve. In their prime...and to think earlier in the summer they're given a 40 minute set to open up a stage that the Prodigy are headlining later in the day. perhaps it just didnt work...but, so i guess what i am saying is that there are a lot of people on this side of the Atlantic who would like to have said they were at Phish's only Glasto appearance.

Phish make non-live records??!?! to think that their 'hit single' 'Free' was out then in 97! if they'd played that it'd been on Top of the Pops as entry the following week! surely the Beeb was showing Phish's early morning set?!?!
