Is it safe to buy tickets from ebay now, seeing as the event is in less than 90 days and I read somewhere paypal protects you for up to 90 days?

Also what is the 45 day ebay buyers protection about? Is this to make it safer buying tickets etc?

Asked the question over on the t forum but figured someone maybe more helpful here,

it is a problem, and something that causes me a bit of anxiety when i buy tickets. But remember that paypal is not your only recourse and the legal system (through small claims) would still provide decent recourse if need be.

I can however vouch for current rockness tickets on sale on ebay at the moment

If I'm honest I wouldn't buy a RockNess ticket from ebay. The tickets aren't sold out and it causes that little bit extra hassle and worry.

You probably would be fine buying from ebay but the tickets to the festival are cheap enough anyways

Sorry it was actually t in the park tickets I was looking to buy from ebay, I've ready bought my Rockness ticket

Best advice I can offer someone buying T in the Park tickets is not to - got to RockNess instead    

I've been stung for a ticket on eBay before (got the money back through a credit card - but had to wait til after the event) - just wait until T release the "last few remaining" tickets ... like they do every year    they always find more to put on sale somewhere They will prob go on sale May/June time and they will be ligit - just wait for them!!

And keep checking ticketmaster - in past years there have been random tickets when you search

I've been to the last 2 Rockness festivals and would throughly recommened it to anyone for the campsite experience alone. Thanks for your advice and I hold of buying a ticket till later on.

Feel free to knock on my tent to share a pint this year!

Don't even bother. My ex girlfriend lost £550 quid for 2 T in the Park tickets, as they didn't turn up.. and Paypal didn't support her in anyway. Not worth the hassle ! Just fork out on what is going to be an amazing weekend!

good bit of ebay bashing!!!!
I have bought tickets for a wide range of gigs (and have sold them too), there are a few things that you can do to protect yourself; have a look at the sellers reputation (sellers new to ebay avoid) especially around tickets, email a few questions before bidding (if they respond quickly and with the correct info, it can be reassurring), if you are worried only bid on tickets that are in hand (waiting for tickets to be released can be an anxious time for both seller and buyer),if it feels too good to be true go with your gut!!, also consider buying from people with a local address and remember there are other ways to get tickets as previously mentioned scarlet mist and if you really must getmein etc occassionally have deals.
Remember a lot of negativity comes from promoters who need to sell tickets and from people who have been a victim of crime (I have already mentioned legal recourse, which paypal ignore as they need to rationalise thier fees).

Plus it doesn't help the long term future for Rockness if you buy tickets from E-bay, (unless it's sold out) every penny counts!!

Why's that then?

The tickets have been bought anyway.. then resold so what difference does it make?  Plus you are better buying them than them going un-used.. more people on site = more money spent!

We got 2 full weekend camping tickets last the week before the festival for £100.. less than 1/2 price.

It might not be sold out but with tickets currently at £160ish for the weekend its over priced. The only year I bought from a retailer was 2006. Every other year has been ebay and if you use some common sense you'll have no problems and save money.

Last year I got 4 Rockness tickets which included tangerine fields with airbeds and sleeping bags for £340. Hopefully get something similar this year. Until the festival gets popular enough to sell out there is little incentive to pay full price!

So what price do you think they should be if £160 is overpriced? A very reasonable price if you ask me. lol, you are right it is a moral question, I guess I do not have a specific loyality to rockness that I do for say belladrum. But I think the question about reliability has been addressed in mine and other posts!!

Since you asked I think about £130 would be reasonable. The price of Rockness has shot up by 15-20% each year which is ridiculous. The first 5 years of T didnt increase on that scale and the festival grew faster and offered more acts. Rockness would probably make more money selling the tickets for less and actually selling out. In 2008 they appeared to be finding it hard to get rid of tickets for nothing. A friend won 5 tickets off MFR - he couldnt even give away the ones he didnt need! I've never had problems on ebay and their website is certainly more user friendly than ticket thief master! I'm quite happy to buy from someone who can no longer go and is selling for a loss just like I'd be happy to buy from the organisers if the tickets were £130!

Creamfields dropped the price of their weekend tickets to £100+ booking last year and sold out. If you're into dance music the lineup there has much more to offer than Rockness! Pretty sure they're £100 this year too.
