The tickets are confirmed, its 10 weeks away, its time to get cracking on our flags! Are you a 6 footer or a 10 footer? Tent or stages? Hand painted or ready made? Let's get started with our flag discussions....

I am considering a new one this year. Toxteth Model Village has served us well for 3 years but our camp will not be exclusively Scouse this year so I think we should reflect that. Gonna purchase materials this weekend. Anyone started on their flag yet?

not a flag, but one of our group works at odeon so he's keeping an eye out for any interesting cardboard characters which we'll be able to use as a tent marker. last year we had daniel craig  (james bond). if only there was a Borat sequal coming out this year...

won't be taking it to the stages though. they just get in the way.

As already mentioned please keep it at the Campsite. Flags as Tent markers good! Flags blocking my view of the Stage BAD!

Not a bad start but I reckon you could potentially do even better than that ... might I suggest adding a cardboard bloke stood in front of said chair (but refusing to fold unused chair up of course) and perhaps also holding an umbrella or even an I [heart] meat products flag in one hand whilst holding up a cr@ppy mobile phone in the other as well :P  :P

Someone posted a "Glastonbury 2008" flag in a previous thread, think it was green and blue (hills and sky) which looked pretty cool.

I can't find a picture of it though :P

anyone?:P

Yeah, started on mine. It states: in case you don't know that I am a Twat, I am telling you about it by carrying around a flag. You will be able to see it when you would rather see the stage. It will remind you that it is me, the Twat, standing between you and an enjoyable experience.

It is quite a big flag !!!

The plans for the Camp Smog flag are being drawn up as we speak.

What paints do people use?  I dont want it run if we have any erm, damp stuff.  Also has anyone used flourecent paint before, does it work??

Edit - forgot to mention the Camp Smog flag will be staying at Camp Smog and not touring the site and annoying the folks stood behind us

I used this stuff for my flag: http://www.chaffinch...559O86845142=10

I think my 'Go Cows' flag requires another coat this year -- I felt it looked a little thin last year.  (Which is down to my imagination, of course.  I don't think that the paint's actually got thinner over time.)

I've found that permanent marker runs a tiny bit, but not so much that it causes problems (my flag has lasted three wet festivals and looks fine except really close up).

Spray paint, sprayed from a distance so that it settles onto the fabric, rather than being forced onto it, makes a nice even fill. Some of it wears away a bit when you fold/roll the flag. Again, lasted 3 wet festivals just fine.

Fabric paint, obviously, is intended for the purpose.

Oh Lord! Didn't intend to start a stages vs camp flag discussion hahaha. My flag, as always, finds its permanent residence at camp. I didn't mean to give such a contraversial option :P

I used some permanent markers on my last flag - Letrasets. They're a really good brand. They ran ever so slightly but this was in the torrential hell of 2007 so I can't imagine much wouldn't have. Skyblueleisure have some brilliant flag stuff - blank flags, poles, bungees and the like.

When's the new Nightmare on Elm Street due out? That'd be brilliant.

I swore no flag making this year as I have spent the last few, years in the run up to glasto, bankrupting myself buying flag material, fabric paint etc - but I have such a good time making them I can't help myself!

Time to get the Camp Watson flag and the efests World Cup flag out and see if they need modifying/re-painted/re-done!!

I love flag making!!

And just for the record team watson's flags are purely for use as tent and football match markers - NOT for p*ssing people of by blocking their view of stages!!  :P

My flag is most definately for both tent and stage.  I am going to Sky + the whole festival so I can spot where I am, and then Glastobate everyone who watches it.
I am a proud flag flyer and I think they look great, and the best thing is that there will be even more of them this year.  I know a few Glasto Virgins who are making them, as they've seen them on TV and think it's THE done thing.
I told them to ignore the haters.
