Does anyone know how I can get the A-Z lineup page (http://www.efestival...0/lineup.shtml#) to be called directly by a URL?

When you click on the tab it just makes that tab visible and the others hidden, is there a way that this can be converted in to a URL, or if some other server side magic can display the contents of just that page?

Just thinking as then I can set up my monitoring software to alert me when something in the line up changes :P

Damn, I was thinking it was a long shot but when I saw replies to the post I was getting all excited, I knew that there would be some fellow efester geeks out there that could work it out.

I'm still hoping...

Sorry - was a bit mean of me to get your hopes up.  :P

Isn't mikeb quite good with techy-type stuff?

If you view the source of the webpage it contains all the menu entries at once (Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, Unk, A-Z). You could just scan for the part of the page that shows the A-Z.

I guess it depends on how the monitoring software works. Doesn't it work as it is?
All of the bands are listed in the source file (http://www.efestival...10/lineup.shtml) it's just that we only see the different days through some javascript jiggery pokery.
The software isn't likely to care about that and check if the source file changes? Or that's how I'd do it anyway :P

http://www.efestival...10/lineup.shtml contains A to Z (view source), guess javascript just swaps the tabs - so if you point it at that page will it not tell you if anything changes on any of the lineup.

Quick question - why don't you just check the page religiously several times a day like I do?  It's all part of the fun of the build up for me.  I love seeing a 'NEW' next to a band I really like.  :P

Still waiting for a lovely, fresh 'NEW' next to I Am Kloot though...

what you should do if you get it working is set up an email alert system and then further down the line you could set up a text alerting system, and maybe charge, oh lets say £1, then every time the page changes the person gets a text.......then again maybe not   :P

:P :P

efestival would do this if they thought it could chargable.

Why not write a web spider that maps several festival websites and sends out emails or sms when the lineup page is updated?
Because it's easier to check here or the website

Why? Assuming it doesn't hammer your site. If it checked hourly what harm does it do?

OTOH, there's already an efestivals RSS feed. Someone could knock up something that subscribes to that and filters out posts that don't mention Glastonbury.

Cos its his site and potentially shows  ways of stealing his content as soon as whoever updates it?, It seems another  case of best intentions that could go a bit wrong :P

I check it at least once a day. It's part of my daily internet routine.
