the last year of free parking was 2002, car parking passes were brought into play in 2003,(i know this as my windscreen is proudly bearing all of them) mean fiddler bought a 20% stake in gfl in february 02, so im afraid im sticking to my thoughts on this one, the parking pass is a definate money-spinner, as is the deposit scheme! the thought of the parking pass being implemented to discourage people coming in their own transport is aload of bollox imo. and can i just add, before the critical peeps amongst you start banging on, im more than happy to pay the 15 quid parking charge to arrive in my own vehicle and return home when i chose, and yes i did buy my ticket outright in october. and im more than happy that melvin benn has his tuppence worth in saying how glastonbury is run (part of his involvement was to appease all of the objectors in the license application, as his other business ventures with festivals have been a success) but i have no doubts that that mean fiddler are in it for the money, michael eavis may hold many of the worthy charities close to his heart, but he too does alright out of the festival, last year he took a 60k for himself to cover the 6 months that the farm was affected for, thats 120k a year, £2,500 a week! not bad methinks.
that is all!
I wonder how much MB takes (took? I thought his involvment had finished) in comparison with ME.
If ME took £120K he'd have earnt it, if he took more would anyone blame him. The man is a success, and has battled and risked financial ruin over the years. He is principled, and generous, and I certainly wouldn't begrudge him £60K if thats what he feels he deserves.
Many people make more money and are less deserving, and some make less and deserve more. ME is a hero, and an inspiration, and if all he costs for all the good he does is £60K good luck to him.
