"Let's just say that if Malcolm breathes, it's too much for me to stomach" - John Lydon

"...alcohol would be sold in libraries, cannabis would be decriminalised and legalised brothels set up opposite the Houses of Parliament to get rid of sleaze scandals. Museum and gallery charges will be scrapped so people can drift through public buildings as an alternative route through town" - Malcolm McLaren, London Mayoral manifesto

RIP
Lydons reaction to his death has been the dignified,

"For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that. Above all else he was an entertainer and i will miss him, and so should you" - Johnny Rotten

Though it's strange he's used the Rotten name, maybe he's trying to send a mesage with that?

He died of  malignant mesothelioma which is a rare form of cancer - as someone who is undergoing the same treatment plan I know the highs and lows and its impossible to ever get a Consultant to give a straight answer and while prostate cancer is not as serious its a long old slog and takes up a huge amount of time which sadly some people just cant cope with and they skip treatment taking a gamble it will not get worse.

I have worked at events where he was hanging about in the guest area and he did look a very interesting character and I was about when the Sex Pistols could be seen hanging about the Kings Road and Camden area.

He was a lot smarter than he looked and really without him I doubt we would have heard anything about the Sex Pistols.

He will be sadly missed .

Genuinely shocking.
Sometimes a bit of a twat but always clever, witty & creative.
A genuine loss. RIP

Thanks for the message - I had daily Radiotherapy for eight weeks { and a longer period of scans before that and nine months of drug treatment before that - they take great care to map out the body } but I may or may not need another full course as my PSA count has been erratic.

Lucky enough I can still be a volunteer for the WBC but not in any public bar as the side effects can make me black out in under one minute { came very close to it at Reading last year but was fine at Glasto } so the WBC have been very good allowing me to work in the WBC Village bar where its a lot easier to control.

I was one of the lucky ones as it was discovered before any symptoms kicked in - once they do patients can face Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy lasting for years so I am one of the lucky ones and apart from the side effects { which affect a good 90 % of patients } I am fighting fit - sure I still have to be careful and I am not allowed to drink much.

If anyone reading this is connected to the NHS then you should feel very proud of yourselves - yes I know the NHS gets a lot of stick but its only when you are being seen on a very regular basis that you begin to see that most of it runs very well indeed and I am staggered at how much care they take.

I have ran into many Cancer patients and they are all full of praise of the work they do.

sorry to have diverted this thread.

sad news indeed.

met him once in Great Gear Market on Kings Road...i said 'alright Malc' and he said 'ello lads' back.  not exactly a conversation, but enough to make me feel to this day that i met someone who changed the face of British music, and to many extents culture, forever.

gone far too early  :P
