I understand the re-name is something to do with an old cattle droving gate in the vicinity of the field or something but with Holts camping ground to the WEST of West Holts Stage...for a pedant like myself...its a bit confusing.  :P

The West Holts field definitly within the eastern range of the festival.

I'll go get my anorak but before I go I'll get my stamp from the nearest Orienteering Post by La Grande Bouffe/Brother Bar :P :P

I am fully aware of this...and hence...how can a field that is west of west Holts just be called Holts. Surely that camping ground/field should be renamed West of West Holts - Holts?  :P

But that still creates confusion with just plain old Holts field cos it is now in limbo!  :P Doesnt know what direction its supposed to be facing.  :P Slightly South West but still a bit in the East but not actually East of West Holts?

The ground is actually almost in East Ham now to  :P  :P (A question as to why West Ham United was no longer in West Ham and in East Ham I asked my farther many a time as a young kid  :P )

Just had a look a look on glastoearth and I see the predicament and the only I can see to solve this is to swap the whole area out

Being a fellow pedant, I'm with Lucy! I will be camped west of West Holts...in the Glade! The stage will be east of Holts which is also east of West Holts....aaarrrrrgh!!!  :P  :P

When I was checking my FB updates by phone earlier today I totally didnt realise that people were talking about the new Jazzworld lineup...its very Glastonbury in the sense that its named after a field from the site but from the BBC's/Eavis's description of the style of music...'future world music' or something...surely Future World Stage or something on that lines may have been better.

Anyhoo, the line up is pretty stunning for the style of music the stage is set up for. Whats a name?

A rose by any other name would still smell like a rose  :P

i seriously thought  they would call it oneworld stage. Anyway im probably always going to call it jazzworld, my local changed its name 3 years ago, but i cant help calling it the old name.

"Meet you for a brother at west holts stage" doesnt sound right, its always going to be "meet you for a brothers at jazzworld"

It's the ex-Jazzworld round my way now.  :P

Mind you, the John Peel stage got taken on board quickly enough. (until it becomes the South Dragon Stage.....)

I share the pedant pain. The "Holts trichotomy" issue has been bugging me for at least year.

Top tip: Do not start looking at the OS 10k maps for the site... there's even more pedant irritations to be had there.

Just looked at my 1987 ops map, and it shows there that the Jazz World field is West Holts, and the Cabaret Tent field is East Holts, so that all makes sense there.

The fact is West Holts did sort of used to be at the western side of the site, the site's just got a hell of a lot bigger since!

It may be in the East of the festival site, but its West of Holts, which is a field system that belongs to Cockmill Farm rather than Eavis isn't it? So its all relative.
