Who do you rekon will pull the biggest crowd out of the headliners so far?

I think its hard to tell on the friday, as the 2 headline acts are so different: Rock legends vs Epic dance/pop artists

As for saturday, Pendulum always seem to attract a huge mob into the tent and they will be appealing to those out there who are in the "who the poo are arcade fire?" group.. :P

As for sunday, i think it's pretty much down to Blink. Most people went through a Blink phase, and they have the 'comeback gig' appeal.

So i rekon Blink will have the biggest crowd.

Your thoughts???

Blink won't have a huge crowd. Reading OR Leeds. Pendulum won't have it either because they've been shoved into a smaller tent.

Guns N Roses will have the most crowd, especially on Sunday at Leeds.

Please refer to this link for a more detailed analysis:

http://www.efestival...p...t&p=3200177

For those who can't be bothered:

Quote

Blink 182 are a nostalgia act to people like me (25) just as Motley Crue are a nostalgia act to people who lived and breathed hair spray in the 80s. Artistically, they never had a peak. Musically, they never had a peak. But commercially, they came at the right time when Adam Sandler was doing what were essentially bankable "Blink 182 films" where he could make the same crude poo joke from start to finish and the audience of imbeciles who like it wouldn't notice and still clap along like seals on benzedrine.

They're not headliners. Maybe reform and play a lesser, much smaller tent - Faith No More last year springs to mind, and look how huge they were after The Real Thing - but not enough to be a main draw.

Last year you had Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead and Kings of Leon. Now, Kings of Leon last year were at their peak (musically, artistically AND commercially), Arctic Monkeys were coming down from that, and Radiohead were... well, somewhere between the two. Last year's line-up wasn't Reading/Leeds like how I've always known it (ie. much heavier) but at least last year they managed to get some bankable bands who were relevant.

Blink 182 are irrelevant on the main stage. You only have to see the boards on here to see the consensus of divided opinion shown towards Arcade Fire.... My money, this year, is on Guns n Roses because as they stand now, they're going to blow all of the relatively maudlin bands on the bill out of the f**king water, and that's not because Guns n Roses are at their peak, it's because the other headliners are fairly weak (pardon the rhyme).

Blink 182 at the very most should have been put in the same sort of place as Limp Bizkit - who were on the cusp of their commerical wave around the same time.

The line-up this year is really quite apathetic (if that's the right word to use) - I mean, the fact Festival Republic are relying on an irrelevant former "Kerrang band" to reform and headline Saturday night (at Leeds) proves to me, at least, that they're scraping the barrel trying to find a band from SOME era, ANY era, to fill the void and to compensate the fact that nothing really interesting is happening in music at the minute, and as much as I love Guns n Roses, it's the same sort of thing with them.

We already have this thread.

But

Weezer & The Libertines will have the biggest crowds in my book.

I am the first to admit, Blink aren't the best band in the world. However they were my childhood band, and I think people are underestimating how many people will go and see them. For me listening to blink isn't listening to musical brilliance, it is listening to my childhood. They will have a huge crowd.

They will have a big crowd yes. But not the biggest.

Nostalgia. My point, exactly.

Most people will go and see them out of necessity rather than because they're any good.

A lot of the smaller tents will probably offer much less in the way of competition and I can't imagine there being that many people desperate to play Guitar Hero so the only other place really for them to go is to the main stage to watch a mediocre band play their greatest hits.

And let's face it, if we're honest, most people would rather them just stand onstage, belt out 'What's My Age Again' and 'All the Small Things' and then f**k off.

Out of the headliners its obviously going to be gnr, it may not be the original line up but lets face it they have sold multiple records as the other 2 headliners combined.  I expect the libertines will run them close though.

I reckon Pendulum will have a massive (read packed like sardines) crowd because of the amount of people who haven't heard of Arcade Fire. I reckon Pendulum might end up being moved before we get to the festival.

I think it will easily be blink, they were a big band before they broke up and I grew up listening to them, they are the only band that everyone I know who is going, group of about 25 17-25 year olds will be watching. I also think pendulum will pull one of the biggest crowds the NME tent has ever seen.

I agree with everything apart from Pendulum being moved.

Pendulum won't be moved I doubt, but after seeing them at Download last year (craziest crowd, and one of the best shows imho) and having been both in the NME tent and unable to get in for some of the headline performances over the years, it would be absolutely mental and possibly dangerous to keep them in the tent and not shift them to special guest status on the field.

The Libertines. Simply because they are hugely popular, both with casuals and enthusiasts.

dunno :P I think GnR will be a massive let down (I'm a fan, just think it's all a bit tired). Pendulum's latest album was a bit of a let down - 1 trick pony - but I'll still be there. Arcade fire aren't really mainstream enough to pull the biggest crowd. that leaves Blink and the Libertines (assuming it won't be any of the other headliners, for no particular reason :P) I reckon Libertines might do it. less competition with NME headliner and they came out top of the 'who is your top headliner' poll.

ah but i think pendulum should be moved....for safety reasons ha!although the likelyhood of this happening is very low. i really hope i manage to get in the tent for them and there is a little room to breathe. i dont want to miss them again!! as i always do.

Only way that will happen is if someone on mainstage pulls out.

Libertines won't merely for the fact Enter Shikari will be playing on at the same time. I'm going to go for Weezer or Gun n Roses.

With the Radio 1 Tent having been rotated, and with the screens outside there's no reason for Pendulum to be moved.
