I haven't looked at the facebook page, but how is this any different to the people saying "yes, we have OUR festival back" due to the lack of indie bands other than the friday.

In all fairness, if your first year at leeds/ reading was last year and then they rolled out a lineup like this year's, you'd be thinking what the f**k.

elitism, much?

Surely though if your going to a festival you would look at what past lineups have been like to judge what was coming in terms of bands. A lot of those bands have played before.

I'd dare bet that a lot of those people in that group were expecting the very same bands as last year to be playing again. The likes of arctics kol kaisers and all and don't realise what type of festival it has been in the past.

Haven't looked at this fb group but I presume it's pretty pointless, just like some of the other fan groups I saw friends join today, such as ...
'I love hugs'
'Why does everyone like you, your (sic) a pri*k' and
'Alarm clocks are great'

:P

I sware there were 10,000s of people there last year who'd never been before, and probably thought that line-up was the norm.

last year was the first in ages I've not seen a headliner. missed billy talent for marmaduke duke, oh to have that time again...

Gaslight Anthem and, oddly enough, the Gossip - who I'd hated before last year but had nothing else to do - saved the festival for me.

I'd heard of Arcade Fire before but never properly listened too them until they were headliners, but then, I'm not an indie fan.

They aint bad, got a few catchy songs. I'd rather see them headlining than KoL.  :P

Also I don't why people are complaining when they have Pendulum headlining the NME tent as an alternative. Perfect.

Oh dear  :P

I also didn't see a mainstage headliner last year (which was my first). I went off the back of how awesome the 08 lineup was and was pretty disappointed at all the indie bands. The Lock Up, a few mainstagers and Gaslight were epic though. Even the Bizzle was awesome.

Well i saw all three headliners, the only set which blew me away was Radiohead. KOL sucked dick, simply because the audience was lame. Too many casuals, those that were into their old stuff simply didnt get what they wanted. Arctics did the foolish thing of releasing the album on the weekend of the festival, wtf do they want, people to know their songs?

The idea of Radiohead being indie (as in the bullshit genre idiots like to make up) is laughable. Also, since when did having a catchy song represent being a good band

Yeah, AF are ok, not my bag but listenable and worth a Headline slot IMO. Pendulum should be great live :P

not seeing Billy Talent last year is quite possibly the biggest regret of my music related life (other than never seeing the Ramones). live and learn I guess

I'm guessing the catchy song bit wasn't part of the reply to my post? :P I've been over the radiohead debate tons of times - I think people fall into 3 camps with Radiohead:

1- love whatever they do, they are gods
2 - love everything up to OK computer, everything after that is tired and contrived.
3 - don't give a f**k.

I'm in group 2. not much else to say on the rights or wrongs of that but if I was going to pigeon-hole them into a genre it would be 'indie' :P

I'll add to your Radiohead debate and say that I don't fall into any of those catergories. Although I like The Bends and OK Computer (Pablo Honey is a bit rubbish in my opinion), personally I think Kid A and In Rainbows are their best releases. Also I wouldn't say I'm some sort of mad stalker fan, only seen them once although I do hope to see them again some day

Probably an over-simplification on my part. Not a particularly helpful or insightful one, either. Just aimed at reinforcing my 'everything post ok computer is shit' attitude :P
