Indeed.  But you could also just make a transcription from your recording.  It's a good idea to record all important calls, it's perfectly legal.  There's also a few arguable ways to advance as evidence if need be and stay within the law.  Of course if you were to obtain consent (express or implied), that would be the best position to be in.  I don't agree with the previous poster about there being no point in ever recording a call.

Yes it seems like we're in agreement. I've never actually tried telling a customer service representative that I'm recording the call, I presume they would probably continue given they are recording it at their end as well - would be interested to know how they'd react.

There's no problem with using recordings as evidence is you actually ended up in dispute. e.g. submitting documents/witness statements to court/other lawyers in a defamation case is technically another 'publication' of defamatory material but you are obviously never going to get sued on it. Same situation here with passing to a third party.

A few years back i had a dispute with Microsoft over my Live acount. I gave them a ring to try and settle the dispute with reason. I started by asking them if they were recording my call they said yes they were, to which i informed them i was also recording. They swiftly hung up on me without anything being said. On about my 5th try i got through to a guy who was willing to help me and didnt mind being recorded by me as he had nothing to hide. Any this guy helped me out and sorted everything out for me and i sent the recording of the other 4 to the head office and was given an apology and some free goodies :P

See i dont think theres a problem with it MS certainly didnt turn it round on me and say that the use of recording equipment is illegal. So i guess it really comes down to who you talk to.

I've checked my ticket a few times, getting a bit OCD about it. It is booked, money was taken out. *Goes and checks again*

Just to let you know what happened here and warn anyone not to fall into the same trap;

My original confirmation email in October gave me the impression the ticket had been paid for and that the transaction was complete. This is because of how it is worded; e.g. "You have been charged...", "this will appear on your statement...", "tickets will be dispatched in May". The money was supposed to be debited from an account I don't monitor that much so I didn't notice that it hadn't gone.

SeeTickets apparently have a record of sending me an email informing me that they couldn't get the money from my account. Because I had assumed there was not problem I had not been looking out for the email and I can only imagine it went into my spam box and was duly deleted without me noticing.

Contacted SeeTickets by phone twice and was advised to write a letter so this matter would be investigated. This I did and sent it registered post so it definately arrived on Tuesday (after Easter Monday). Am still waiting for SeeTickets to reply !!

In the meantime emailed GFL who responded the next day, but also said they could not help. They (very politely) referred me to a section on their website that basically covers them for this sort of eventuality by laying the onus on the buyer to ensure the transaction is completed - not the agency.

Please be careful and don't be an idiot like me - make sure the money has left your account. I have found SeeTickets very difficult to deal with and their Customer Service Department is a joke.

Happy ending however - my son using his mega fast Internet browser that came with his Wii managed to get online straight away on Sunday and safely booked his good old dad a ticket .

Interesting point though - the confirmation email I received this time included a paragraph advising the purchaser to check their bank statements etc and placing the emphasis on them to ensure the transaction is complete. Don't know if this (inportant) addition was down to me moaning to GFL or not but today I checked my bank account and yes, I have been charged.  :P

Thanks again to all the well wishers on this thread - May be see some of you in June

Same thing exactly happend to me,  luckily i got some tickets on the re-sale date, then they told me there where no car park tickets left, bollocks, after e:mailing glasto office they said seetickets where wrong & there are loads of car park tickets left {Although you can pay on the gate, just speeds things up if you have a ticket/sticker on ur windscreen}. Rang seetickets up again & got one no probs!!. Hope you got sorted.

Hi i have empathy cos i think i could have been in the same boat as you.
I paid a deposit in october for 2 tickets, at the end of January we paid the remainder. I got the confirm email and everything, didn't look back.
about 2 weeks later i got a phone call from see, that at the time i thought was abit sus.... telling me they never took the money out....now were skint, we used the last of OH wages to pay it, and cos he wasn't due to be paid for a while we hadn't looked at the account, we knew there'd be nothing in it!

after see got in touch ?(and we made sure it was legit...not handing over info to anyone!), we checked and the money had never left the account.
a quick phone call and it was sorted, i still have the same ref number tho lmao. (and this whole thing just made me double check...im still going according to ticket tracker :P lol)

im so glad things turned out alright for you!!!!

These threads give me nightsweats.

I know the money is gone from our account. I know I have my confirmation email but because my husband has the seetickets details and I cannot use the tracker every single day just to *check* everything is ok I start getting all worked up.

I bought a ticket to see KISS from Seetickets quite recently. Unusually, I didn't receive an email confirmation which I thought very odd. About a week later I had a text from them (again, very unusual) saying that the ticket would be with me within a week. The next day it arrived by courier. They don't seem to be very consistent.

So am i okay? sorry for being a fool just want to make sure because i just couldnt miss out on Glasto it would probley break me!

Clearly the lesson to be learnt here is to not even rely on anything until See have your money. I too am slightly incredulous that someone would not notice that the withdrawal has not gone through their bank account - once I've made the booking, got the conf email, the next few days are then spent checking my bank account until the cash has been taken. I have a touch of OCD  :P  but then it's so important to me, I don't want to leave anything to chance.

Anyway Crispy, I am very glad that everything was sorted for you  :P

Totally paranoid and just checked again. Order is there and paid, even got one of the tickets and the camper pass confirmed twice.....might get worried about that next.
I think SeeTickets are not particularly consistent as it seem a bit hit and miss how helpful the person is you are speaking to. I rang them up in November to pay for one ticket and the camper pass and then again in January to pay the rest. Had to redial a couple of times as the person helping me just put me on hold for ever.
Quite sad, that people end up without tickets because they say it is the buyers responsibility to check the money has gone out of the account.
Am pretty sure if it was the other way around you would not get away with not paying because it was SeeTickets responsibility to make sure they took the money.
Typical. Won't be totally satisfied till I got tickets in my hands.

I got tickets for 6 mates in the resale. Didn't put the person who is the cardholder in as the first person so there have been possible problems on payment due to postcode. Got phone calls on Monday from See to say money not gone out. My friend who's account has been used informed her bank last week that a large amount would be coming out. See have now said they have the money but it's not come out of their account yet. I've told her to ring the bank again. Just hope that it goes out today!

I have checked my ticket several times because of threads like this and also because in 2005 the same thing happened to me except see rang me up and told me the money hadnt gone, i gave them alternative card details and all was cool. However upon checking this time i noticed i have two see tickets reference numbers, each one with my name and confirmation of a full price ticket, car park ticket and booking fee. The money has only been taken once but there is defo 2 bookings, what do you think the chances are of them sending me two tickets??

btw i have also checked my bf's ticket at the same address and he has a completely diff ref num???

Your car-park ticket also generates a See reference number.  If you have two reference numbers 1 will be your ticket and the other your car-parking sticker.

I had this and phoned Seetickets about it last night. You're fine, they confirmed to me that they had taken payment and all was well.
