I have been going to the Berlin Festival every year since it started (5 years ago!) Its a brilliant small festival in an amazing city! They moved it to Templehof Airport last year which is the coolest venue I have ever been to!
The line up gets better every year too
Go!!! Hope you love it as much as I do!

Just booked tickets and flights to attend Berlin Festival for the first time. Venue looks really impressive. Could anyone offer me any information regarding transport to the festival and the best areas to stay in Berlin? and how big the venue is/how easy is it to get from one stage to another. Also how long the acts usually get on stage?
Also im hoping with the festival being in Germany, the beer available will be better than what's on offer at UK festivals.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Dunno ... I just googled hotels in the Templehof area and booked one within walking distance. Seems very reasonably priced round there, booked a twin room for two nights for 120 euros ...
My first time, so know nothing about the setup. Should be aces though ...

Ah, there is a forum to discuss this festival! I'm guessing it's mainly attended by Germans, as I've heard very little about it from music sites in this country- not as well known abroad as something like Benicassim or Melt. I'm currently really excited- booked hostel nearby a few days ago, the line-up looks brilliant (even though I don't know half of it, the descriptions are good), and from the pictures on the site, it looks like an awesome venue. Not sure about the comparison to Rockness; I've never been, but that one is by a Scottish Loch, this one is in a disused airport in the middle of Berlin. And with that two for one ticket offer, seems pretty cheap to me!
Khickster, its good to hear from someone who has actually been before! I can tell already that its generally a great experiences, but could you maybe help me with a few questions? What sort of time do the headliners (I mean like LCD) play? I'm guessing its DJs from 2 or 3 onwards, can't see the headliner being on at five! And what sort of food stalls/bars are there?
Any advice appreciated, although I bet nobody is reading this thread anymore.... It's not as busy as the Glasto forum I'll tell you!

I'm reading it!
I'm totally in the dark about this too ... I expect the bands (Hot Chip, LCD etc) to be on up to around the 2am mark too, with the DJs following after, but who knows?

Went to this in 2007 it was ace, if you want to do it on the cheap just get a hostel after all you'll barely be there while the festival is on.
It's run by the same people who do Melt! festival outside Berlin (which is probably one of the best festivals i've ever been to).
It's changed venues since I last went but the afterparty at Tape club in 2007 was ace, I assume now that it's at Templehoff it goes on much later so there's no need for that now? But yeah thumbs up from me.
Still might go to this depending on work and all that stuff....

Times out now! Also, a pretty sweet looking 'trailer' video for the festival.

Ah, by the Melt folk eh Babaranse? I've heard good things about that- really cheap beer yes? Hope that carries over to Berlin... And it goes through till about 6 or 7 am, so no real worries about an afterparty!

Beer at Melt! was neither cheap nor expensive. I suspect Berlin fest might be cheaper. Don't chuck the cups though they all seem to do the pfand thing (Ie 1 Euro deposit on the glass).
The Melt! people are serious pro's this will not be some kind of ramshackle affair, have faith!!

Ticket, hotel and transport are sorted. Really looking forward to this one !! Friday night is gonna be massive
And for those of you still looking for a hotel: The subway (U-bahn) also goes at night, so you don’t need something close to the festival.
