Like most people I've picked up that bands don't tend to play both. Is this a gentlemen's agreement or are there contractual restrictions put in place? With the festivals so close do they stop bands playing both in case it affects the ticket sales of one, or something like that?

Generally it is contractual agreements, seeing as there's such a cross-over appeal.
