It was pretty obvious given that Radio 1 would be midway through newsbeat.
Still... bit cheeky to ask us to buy tickets without telling us who are playing.

There's a quote from the recent festival focus group that states that the line-up is announced after the tickets go on sale to avoid an even greater demand than there already is.

Perfect use of adjectives

I suppose this is reasonable but it's still fairly "cheeky" that they expect people to buy the tickets no matter what the line-up

Indeed, should give people such as myself who blindly buy tickets presuming the lineup will be at least half-decent a small window to buy before those who will only buy based on who's playing
Just seems a bit funny.

NME.com
To find out who is playing make sure you have your browser pointing at NME.COM from 7.15pm (BST).
Meanwhile tickets will go on sale slightly earlier, at 6.45pm.
Only FR can expect people to pay 200+ blindly

Glastonbury do it every year and that sells out without anyone knowing the line up. I guess Reading just want to do the same, try and get the regulars to go rather than the casual fans, try and get a better atmosphere.

That is sneaky! I reckon the only festival that can really get away with doing that is Glastonbury - because it's about so much more than just the line-up.
Personally I'd go on Ticketmaster or another site that lets you reserve tickets in your basket without paying for them, then try and hold on to them and only buy the tickets once I know there are bands on that I want to see.

fair enough for weekend tickets but i dont think they can justify selling day tickets if you dont know what bands will be playing
I'll only be going for the day this year (whatever day the libertines is) - day tickets better not be sold out before we know which day they are playing

punktastic have a few announcements, they're very reliable. You Me At 6, Blink 182, Libertines, GNR, Arcade Fire, and Motion City Soundtrack. Possibly Paramore and MCR as well.

Exactly, we got ours last year on the early bird thing. It's good every year, has a lot to do with the people you go with.

Reading is so about the overall experience not just the line up. That's why it sells out I just hope the organisers don't just rely on this and have a rubbish line up
