Im 6'7" and to be honest I don't give a rats arse about who can't see , but I do try to get to the set of which ever band I want to see well before and then its up to other people not to stand behind me . At V in 07 I did get punched in the back by a young lady (and I use the term lady very loosely) because she couldn't see the Killers

I'm 6'4"-ish, and I have no problem moving if someone asks politely. I'll always look behind me, just in case there is someone a lot shorter and then I'll ask if they want me to move.
There does occasionally seem to be a bit of a "your tall so you don't need to stand at the front" attitude from some people. I'm tall, it doesn't mean my eyes have suddenly evolved some kind of zoom feature.

I am quite tall and I must admit that I tend to try to take up position early if I want to be near the front for a gig. Then if a small person ends up behind me it's because they stood behind me, not because I stood in front of them!
I hate arriving late and ending up standing in front of someone shorter who got there before me. if they've left a space in front of them available for me to stand in, I tend to move into it, but then offer it back for them to go in front of me.

I am a shockingly tall 5' exactly! I have to say most tall people will always look round and then move me in front of them.
Literally, I have been moved before!
The only time I find it annoying is when they look round, and then stand right in front of you. Then I can only see the backs of their knee-caps!!
I usually move now, to be fair.

I'm 6ft2 and occasionally get moaned at but in all honesty what can we do? If I move to let somebody else see the chances are I'll block somebody elses view. Just the way it is.
The only way to sort things is to have a giant version of a school photo, with shorties at the front and us real humans at the back

If you are really really really tall, does a big triangle of emptiness open behind, like a mixing desk? Do people use you as a meeting point? Or have you ever been approached by organisers to carry a video repeater on your back?

The only time it really f*cks me off is when the only view I can get is between two tall people's shoulders, then the f*ckers keep leaning over to talk to each other - gah!!!! Oh, and the time I was one away from the barrier to see QOTSA in 2005 and the tall guys in front of me wouldnt let me stand in front of them despite my begging. There was nowhere else to go, it was major crush city, I was nearly crying with pain at tiptoeing through the whole set and not being able to breathe. But I am proud to say I stuck it out, then got dragged out of the pit by security, completely dazed and confused and not feeling too good at all. I almost sat down against the fence until I looked to my side and realised that it was a Piss Fence
But I digress.... There's nowt wrong with being nice, and I would tend to ask nicely if all else failed and hope that the lovely tall people would show a little pity for a shorty
yes I'm 5ft1 (and a very important half
) and it takes me ages to find a little gap between people's shoulders where I can get to see any section of the stage at all.
Then they move, ot chat, or do something to block my view, the inconsiderate blighters. They should be made to stand stock still and not allowed to talk for the duration of the gig. Or better still, the whole crowd should be forced to kneel so they're all level with me.
Nah, I'm resigned to never seeing anything except someone else's shoulders when I go to a gig - otherwise I'd have to fall out with the entire audience.

I am 9' tall and its a pain in the neck quite frankly..
I really don't see being tall as an issue, bit like saying I am fat and take up to much width.....

Went to a gig last night and it seemed that no matter where i stood somebody was moaning. (i'm 6 foot 4).
It was a standing gig with a big stage and seats in the balcony. I like getting quite close and although it was a sold out show it didnt take much effort to get near the front, its the stopping thats the problem.
Everyone buys their ticket on an individual basis, turns up, watches the show and goes home. There is no 'right' to a certain space in the area. As long as you aren't physically moving people out of a spot to take thier place surely you can stand wherever you want?
Well last night i pretty much got hassle for at least the first 30mins of the gig.
The most common complaint was "cant you stand somewhere else" and "i got here early to get this view"
Now as i said i wasnt barging or pushing people out of the way and both comments could be replied with tit for tat comebacks like "why dont you move" or if you wanted to be rude a dismissve "so what?"
however i'm not of the character to get into random arguments with strangers (i leave that to Larry David) so most of the time i met the abuse with a shrug of the shoulders and a kind of "sorry for being tall" look yet i admittedly didnt make much of an effort to move.
I've never had anyone moan at me at the 6 Glastos i've been too and rarely get it at gigs (could have been the city i was in-it was the big one down south) but its made me think.
Are tall people selfish pricks at gigs or should small people just accept that if they pay for a standing ticket they aren't going to get a perfect view??
Opinions, stories etc all welcomed.
If you are short it is tough shi*. I remember when I was at a Chemical Brothers gig and there was a girl about 5 foot 2 behind us. Me and my boyfriend at the time are pretty tall. Anyway she kept moaning at us to 'move back, I can't see'! We just ignored her and told her if she wasnt happy she should move

You could always go on someones shoulders-you'd then know what it feels like to be told you're in the way

I'm quite tall (about 6ft 2") but short-sighted, so need to be closer but am aware that I can impair the vision of others, so have the double-edged sword to cope with there. However I too can have taller people in front of me, but that's just the way it is with gigs,

I'm 6'2" and I generally stand at the back now because a)tired of getting shit down the front and
the front is not really worth the ballache - every one's moaning about everything.
I operate a rule of thumb - if someone is polite, I will automatically offer to step back. If they're rude I will revel in obstructing their view.
But if you do want down the front and a tall person gets there before you, suck it up and MTFU.

I'm 5'3 and have a talent for being stuck behind giraffes. Don't think anyone's ever let me in front of them and I'm too shy to ask people to move so I just move to a place where I can see at least the top of the band's heads and get neck ache usually

I'm 6' 2".
Never had a problem at Glastonbury, but had some meat heads try and pick a fight with me a V one year while trying to watch Travis. It was easier to move.
That's the V crowd for you.
