Somebody over on the Official Leeds Forums has told me that the three headliners are Guns 'N Roses (to ber subbed my My Chemical Romance), The Libertines (to be subbed by Arcade Fire) and Blink 182 (to be subbed by Paramore)
I know that most people have prettymuch jumped to these conclusions already so this may not seem shocking, and to be fair i'm not sure whether i believe the guy either (he said he has 'sources' and that they're usually correct, but... who doesn't have sources these days?), but i just thought i'd tell you all (i also don't know how this works out considering Neil seems adament that Arcade Fire will be the final band of one of the nights, unless they're co-headlining with The Libs (which seems likely as they're co headlining with Kasabian at Oxygen) but y'know)

this guy has also said that Queens Of The Stone Age will be headlining one of (though i'm not sure which - i asume Blink day) the NME days. they're playing Germany on the 24th and 25th so this seems pretty likely (though they seem like a bit of a random headliner)

Make of this what you will!

EDIT: Hole and Klaxons/We Are Scientists (co-headlining) are apparently the other two NME headliners

EDIT 2: Biffy Clyro will play under Guns 'N Roses and My Chemical Romance, Lostprophets will play under Blink 182 and Paramore and Elbow will play below The Libertines and Arcade Fire (apparently, of course)

also, apparently at Leeds, Guns N Roses will play the Friday, Blink 182 will play the Saturday and The Libertines will play the Sunday, which leads me to believe that Blink 182 will play the Friday of Reading, The Libertines will play the Saturday and Guns n Roses will play the Sunday (these Reading dates are all speculation on my part though)

QOTSA in the tent would be destructive.

i've just been told that the other two NME headliners will be Hole and Klaxons/We Are Scientists (co-headlining)
again, make of it what you will
Klaxons has made me suspicious that the guy might be talking out of his arse (as they only headlined in 07.. seems too soon) but ah well

Yup sounds like he might be lying. Maccabees will be doing the co headline slot because they're headlining the nme tour unless reading have scrapped that role this year.

The Maccabees aren't nearly big enough to headline the NME though -  they seemed like a poor choice of band to headline the NME tour from the get go
the guy seems to think they'll be under either QOTSA or Hole
if The Maccabees played their crowd would be awful. they can't compete with Blink, The Libs or GnRs
then again, imo, neither can Hole

I wasnt saying they're big enough to but the past has shown that the headliner on the tour tends to headline. Although last year it was  coheadliner spot perhaps we'll see the same again this year but thats why i doubt WAS and Klaxons co-headlining. Maccabees got one of the biggest nme crowds last year just for the record and i cant see them coming back and playing pretty much the same spot?

Does sound quite realistic, pretty much what I've been predicting in fact.

Does this guy know any other bands that will be playing?

wasn't aware The Maccabees pulled such a good crowd
it just isn't like FR to get an NME headliner... who played lower down in the NME the year before. would seem like an odd and lazy choice
i wouldn't be surprised if they played second down. it seems like a decent slot for them. they haven't exactly had great chart success or anything, just a lot of hype
under QOTSA seems likely to me

every angle I try about the Libs is drawing one VERY big blank. Nothing I've yet experienced has ever been kept this tight before, so I suspect that nothing is really being kept tight here.

Some of what is has been posted in this forum about the Libs is 100% bullshit. I'm not going to say what I've identified as bull tho, while I'm still digging.

I'm leaning towards it being bull, while earlier today I'd have gone the other way if I had to chose one or the other.

completely put me off now
Libertines are nobodies who are famous purely cause doherty is a tramp. How Can QOTSA headline a tent while they take main stage, QOTSA should have their headlining slot or sub it with a bigger band headlining.

Outrageous

plus more ranting maybe im just a pessimist but Guns N' Roses... Their new album is just a racket of guitars trying to be louder than the others, not one of their new songs done anything to define them or touch any of the classics and songs they made with slash and the gang.

sort it out seriously
