Where is the worst place you've camped

For me it was last year's spot in Wicket right by the road. Of a night it just seemed to get further and further away as the festival went on, generally it was pretty sedate and the toilets were an absolute hike - not good when the big fabric conditioner bottle has been forgotten.
That said the people camped next to us were amongst the nicest I've met at Glasto. And the two ladies from Dorset who set up with us and left on Saturday morning were unforgettable.

If we're talking other festivals it has to be Leeds in 2008 for me. Not my greatest festival anyway (my nan passed away from a serious illness whilst I was there), but it all culminated in a final day of getting my tent slashed, offering 17 year old weekend rebels out, having all kinds thrown at our tent all night and then being unable to get any sleep as we needed to keep an eye on how close the massive fire was getting to us.

Yeah we used to camp in Wicket Ground and it does what it needs to do. It's friendly, safe, quiet - it's blatantly obvious that it's going to be one of the quieter areas because it's miles away from everywhere. I'd have guessed it was even quieter last year as they moved the cinema.
I've camped in WG a few times and it's been great. We'll be in Home Park/Pennards this year but if you need proper sleep, WG is a good option.
And the group we met in 2005 camped next to us were absolutely hilarious. The Queen sing-a-long in the early hours of the Sunday was great fun.

only ever camped in the dairy fields, was good access to the car park so you could do several trips bringing your stuff in rather than 1 go. enjoyed it both years, but a canny walk to anywhere you are going except the other stage, the walk back from trash city at 3am was torture as well !
a spate of tent theives spoiled it last year with us and around 10 tents around us being robbed on the thursday night an the villians scoring about £1600 cash as well as numerous cigs an tablets ! cheeks gits were going in to tents and stepping over people to get to bags

I camped in Suggs Ground in 2007, a bit similar to Wicket Ground, although not as quiet there was some noise from the John Peel Stage. However miles away from everything else, it was my first year and we camped as far into the gates as we could, about 500 yards from PGA, (lazy feckers), really should have known better.
Since that experience I became obsessed with Glastonbury and following extensive research we have always camped on Big Ground. That said heading for Pennards this year, to avoid that big long walk back to the tent at 06.00AM, I am hoping it will be more lively as well.

I'll agree with what has been said about the Wicket Ground. I couldn't have asked for nicer people around us. I'd assume you tend to get a slightly older and more mature demographic up there, relative to the rest of the campsites, which I enjoyed. It was very friendly and we didn't have any trouble of any description.
But the downside really is that it is so far from anything - it's horrible knowing you can't just nip out for 30 minutes or not being able to go back to your tent without missing at least 1 thing you were hoping to see.
If you go out in the day and forget something then you'll waste probably the best part of an hour to go and get it.
If you're all about Peace and People then Wicket Ground is your place
If you're hoping for Convenience and a Carnival atmosphere then stay well clear

I haven't had bad spots personally, but I did question the wisdom of a poor crowd who pitched
by a hedge behind some urinals and long drops in the big ground;
On the wednesday I expect they they thought they found a convenient (get it) spot
By the friday I guess their stomachs were churning; Not to mention the stream of water that emerged
during the nights...

I've camped in the same place the 4 years i've been going, i think it might have been Hitchin Hill, i like it, sure it's kinda uphill when you wanna go to bed but trust me, camping on a hill when the massive rain comes is a great idea, in 2005 me and one of my mates were the only people whose tent did not get completely flooded out of a whole group of us when the floods happened!!

Yeah, that's just basic common sense though!! I see it every year and always chuckle to myself when I see them setting up right by a path/toilet.
Anyone reading who hasn't been before - DON'T CAMP RIGHT BY TOILETS!!!!

I've camped in Williams Greenfield (not to be confused with William's Green) next to the Dragon Field since the late 90's but I'll be moving west this year. Trash City et al has put too much of a burden on the facilities over there now. It's a shame as it's the best camp site for being close to the action late at night.

First time I went in 1990, me and a mate pitched in the dark, quite worse for wear, in an empty camp site next to what we though was a nice piece of hand painted sculpture. "What an amazing place" my mate said, "even the camping fields have weird stuff in them". We woke next day, confused by the weird sound coming from the 'sculpture', and unzipped the tent to find a row of blokes heads looking over the top of it while they were having a piss.
