What he said.

Someone tried to convince me the other day that the reason why I don't like Muse is because they're "too political" for me. Would someone care to explain how Muse are more "political" than The Clash, Rage Against the Machine, Stiff Little Fingers, NOFX, The Levellers or Julian Cope, which are among my favourite artists? Or was he just talking cr*p?

They aren't as political as those bands but the guy has a point. Bellamy's lyrics are really cringeworthy and filled with the kind of teenage political posturing he should've outgrown years ago.

Love them on CD, but live at Glasto in '97 they were pretty weak tbh. May be back on form though, don't think those times were the happiest for them.

Smashing Pumpkins remain the worst live band I've ever seen by some way. Used to be a big fan too.

Apart from it's not really The Smashing Pumpkins any more, it's Billy and a bunch of session musicians.

Exactly right. His "politcal statements" have been made a million times before in 6th form common rooms for the last 40 years.

They (or he) are (is) releasing a load of music for free over the interweb over the next year or so. Some of it is pretty good too.

I find that whenever I listen to anything by Muse I'm bored of it after 2 minutes and turn it over to something else. To me their music although played skillfully is just a bit bland. They are great musicians and by rights should be an amazing band but somehow it just doesn't quite work.

Last time I saw the Pumpkins they were woeful, used to be a great band though I've not bought anything they've done since the split up years ago.

I've always enjoyed the Pumpkins when I've seen them, but I have been a huge fan since I was about 14.

Christ, If Joe was still with us, could you imagine that line up!?!?!? Stick the pumpkins in there somewhere! Good lord.. I still think NOFX should play Glasto.. They'd be amazing IMO.

But yeah, Smashing pumpkins would be great, I doubt they'll play though..

saw em when the headlined reading in.. 07 i think it was? when the chilies got all grumpy and were crap?
anyway, really really enjoyed it, billie was great. band sounded tight, just a generally good performance.

Not so sure i'd want to see them again (although i'm a fan) as judging by others responses i may have gotten lucky catching a decent performance.

Remember them at Glasto 97 - was a massive fan so loved it.

From what i remember they played a hell of a lot of B-Sides and lesser known album songs.

Not sure about the tie though  :P

And they are not the same without James Iha and Darcy  :P

Couldn't disagree more, were absolutely incredible at Reading 2007.
Would love to see them this year, can't see it happening though unless perhaps below U2.
