After going to Exit for the past few years, I've decided it's time to try something a bit different this year and Spirit of Burgas caught my eye.
Has anyone been before? Would be great to get some info on what it's like, what the crowd are like and whether it's a good choice in general... any other useful information such as how best to get there etc would also be good.... it's been really difficult to find out much about this one! Thanks

Hey Taz
We went last year and I've been trying to convert everyone I speak to since. But there isn't much info out there, and they take a while to pull the line-up together, which doesn't help. Burgas is a great little festival. It's a pretty small town, and the festival itself actually takes place on the beach, which is really cool (camping is also on the beach).
Its not as massive as Exit because its only been running a couple of years, but you still get some pretty good names (last year: Faith No More, Fun Lovin Criminals, LTJ Bukem, SubFocus), and because it's all wide open you can get around easily. Bulgaria is really cheap (maybe not as cheap as Serbia, but still pretty good - about €2 for a beer in the festival if I remember right). And you pay cash too, so you don't have to fart about with tokens.
The crowd are cool - mainly locals, obviously, with a couple of foreigners here and there. But they're pretty friendly and love their music.
As for how to get there, we're running buses from Sofia and Istanbul (well worth checking out before/after the festival if you get the chance), and we've got some apartments & hotels up there too, if you don't fancy camping (it's about as hot as Serbia). Check out our site at www.eufest.com/burgas for full details.
There's also a couple of pics/videos on our facebook group you could check out (link).

Thanks for all the info Derm! Looks like a great little festival... I've used your accommodation/transfers when going to Exit so will definitely check out what you have on offer.

First announcements for Spirit of Burgas 2010
Prodigy
Apollo 440
Andy C & MC GQ
DJ Shadow
Gorillaz Sound System
Serj Tankian (System of a Down)
There was also some mention of the festival "increasing by 100%" - not sure if that's size, stages, acts, people or what but it's definitely not the price - early bird tickets have just gone on sale for €45 (yep, 45) for the three days, and camping is an extra €15.
