Wouldn't consider myself a fan at all, but I saw them at the Electric Picnic a few years ago and they were great. The atmosphere in the tent was fantastic and everybody came out with a big smile on their face. They impressed me a lot more than I thought they would...certainly a good addition.

I was there too in 2006, great set.  Love them, Neil is an amazing song writer and singer.

Sod this ''best British band of the last 30 years'' nonsense. I sincerely believe they are the best British band of all time, along with New Order and The KLF of course.

Seriously....
wow...

I was going to make a Peter and Gordon or Gerry and Pacemakers joke....

...but I think I shall just silently weep for a few minutes instead...

If rumours come to fruition, then you need look no further than Jackson Browne and Squeeze to hear really amazing singer/songwriters. :P

Almost broke my no-posting-while-at-work rule when I saw this TBC today. Legends that I'm yet to see live.  :P

A bit harsh...but i won't be anywhere near either. I'm surprised so many people here like them, tbh. Glasto should be putting their cash to better use than this tripe.

Wit, style, panache, politics, heartbreaking melancholy, amazing tunes. Basically they're The Smiths it's ok to like (and dance to, natch).

Live, Tennant's voice is not very strong but when did technical ability come into making great pop music?

And as for the tedious argument about how much of the music is on DAT and how much is played live - who f**king cares? Real music fans, I guess.  *shrugs*

As long as it sounds great I couldn't give a toss who wrote it or whether it's being played live or not.

Nice to see them being described as 'aging queens' in this thread though. Really classy insult, that.

Funniest, most deluded thing I've ever read.

They should be putting their cash to better use than booking a popular, successful band that loads of people like? Yeah, you're right, what fools the organisers are. It's almost like they don't know what they're doing? Perhaps this is the first time they've done anything like organising a festival.

Yeah, but there's getting good bands in and then there's pandering. I don't think i want to spend 3 days around people who love the Pet Shop Boys. Call me prejudice but i have a feeling i won't like that sort of person lol.

The type of person with no sophistication. I imagine a Pet Shop Boys Fan would be happy listening to club music and all that other crap with repetitive THUD THUD THUD sounds and prescious little else. The type of person who likes lyrics with no meanings like Robbie Williams' stuff. The type of person who orders a WKD drink at a bar. The kind of person who actually finds fart jokes funny.

And i think the sweeping generalisation that gays like the Pet Shop Boys is very homophobic. :P

Fart jokes are immeasurably funnier than your post.

But the existence of the Dance Village means that there will be lots of other people who like repetitive synthesised music, and there is always space for a cheesy pop act at Glasto, so why would the PSBs make any difference this year?

I'm sure there are just as many gay people who like them as gay people who don't like them, and fart jokes ARE funny  :P
