Thanks. I'm digging where I can to find out anything more I can.

I don't disbeleive you as such, and have checked your post history, but at the same time I don't know you from adam, and it's the case that some of what you've posted previously was known anyway. My own sources are known and trusted, with a long history of good info.

If we're going for 'huge' bands under GnR, I'd have to throw Soundgarden in there, as they're still a rumour on efests too. Can't think of anyone else suitable lol.

This is really quite exciting though, we've got like 5 potential headliners at the moment :P.

I completely understand.

I just hope that when these 3 bands are announced, i will be recognised in the future :P

I was told a while ago that Blink were on the Saturday at Leeds but that could have easily changed. My guess would be having Libertines on the Sunday as there is always  "Indie" band on the Sunday

yes because this year glastonbury and download has blown them out the water, so now we're stuck with second best headliners of Blink who are no where near big enough to headline, libertines who couldn't headline when they were apprently massive back in the day and Arcade Fire who most people havn't even herd of

blink-182 are the sound track of my generation's youth and could have headlined before they split, the reunion and exclusivity only justifies it further.

It's no more 'stupid' than Pumpkins, Pixies or The Killers

Could it not be that GnR and libertines (with pete in and out of court) are so unreliable that they needed a plan b, they sorted out sub headliners such as arcade fire and mcr that could possible headline if they couldn't secure them or pete went on a drug bender the weekend of the festival. Libertines could sub could they not?

Blink could have no way headlined before they split and it doesn't mean shit if they were the soundtrack of your generation, they just didn't sell enough albums and tour tickets to justify a headline spot. And The killers weretn't a stupid booking at all, at the time they could have been said as been the biggest headliner in 08

Didn't they co-headline with Linkin Park in 2003?!

Either way, they are definately big enough, and do not sing about f*cking dogs* :P

Quoted for truth.

They arguably weren't the biggest headliner that day :P

Well it obviously does mean something seeing as that's the audience Reading & Leeds have always targeted, The Libertines would yet again be another example of that.

The Killers were massive and still are yes, but I seriously think you're underestimating quite how big blink's slot will be. I have no doubts in my mind they will get a crowd the size Metallica, RHCP and Kings of Leon did.

They're one band that nearly every 'casual' festival goer I know is absolutely dying to play.

I remain confident that the AF info was good just one month ago. I can't see a band that's been booked as a headliner being happy to be bumped down.

I've just remembered that someone mailed me about a month ago and said that Pete Doherty had been in to the shop where she worked to buy a TV, and had said the Libs were headlining. I thought it was more likely he was on drugs. :P :P

There's room in my heart for old and new blink, nowt wrogn with a bit of dog f**king or mexican pirates whilst we're at it.

This sounds like a decent set of headliners to me, I was happy with the previous lot but this is definitely has a lot more umph about it

If Hole are going to be headlining the Tent, Im praying for a Libertines clash.

I'm not a huge fan of blink and would class my self as a 'casual' festival goer :P but... am very excited about the prospect of seeing them, i think they could be the highlight of the summer imo.

yeah this. people moaned about arcade fire and mcr being possible headliners, Libertines would be lol worthy.

Really? Sold more albums than Metallica and Rage in the U.k recently and sold out tours quicker than Metallica. ffs I was able to get rid of 2 tickets for nottingham arena for £180 on ebay where as Metallicas were going for around the face value mark or jst above. I struggle to see why at the time the Killers weren't bigger than the two.

Although a bigger and healthier looking announcement, I would have prefered Blink, AF and another when compared with the libertines and GnR. I mean I know they are bigger.

For me though GnR are one of those bands that I absolutely hate, we all have them, and although I like all that the libertines have done I just don't get excited about seeing them. I was happy with last years three headliners. I was ecstatic in 08. But 2010 is very meh for me personally.

Does this mean that bands like Biffy get bumped further down the bill then? Or will it be a straight replacement for the other supposed 'would be' headliners.

I'm taking everything with a pinch of salt now tbh. I dunno what to tell my friends regarding who is/ is not playing because judging by the two differences between efests and Kesse46 headliners would attract different friends.
