Just an i idea that no one seems to of picked up on (correct me if i'm wrong)

She played V (where she headlined a stage) and galstonbury last yhr (and atualy was surprisngly good when i saw her at glasto)

is doing incredible well for herself and still a very big act, particulary with 'The Fame Monster' (her old album plus a few new tracks)

i think she would be quite a contrast to the pop rock bands being predicted.
possible NME headliner??

i dnt care if she plays or if se dosent, just wanted to see peoples oppinons.
(i'm also collecting death threats and insults to my name, i think i'm going to have a lot by the end of this summer)

She'll never play but I would really welcome her, esspecialy with some of the rumours. At first I just thought she was typical chart rubbish but I've really grown to respect her and she has some very intelligent ideas about pop and her presentation.

TBH, I don't want the festival to go down that route at all.

I look at the likes of T and think thats a really good line-up a lot of bands I would see, then I see Black eye peas and think god no. I mean I'd still go to T cause its not clogged up all through the day with pop.

I Look at V and just think wouldn't got there ever with the saturdays and cheryl cole and the likes, I think I wouldn't go at all.

I mean la roux was at R&L last year, and apparently she got a massive crowd. It just shows that there are a lot of V type people going to R&L. We need to nip that in the bud straight away.

People like Laday Gaga would just be taking away better higher slots that bands could take and do a great job with.

I find myself torn between pointing out that Reading isn't that sort of festival and it would never happen in a million years, and admitting that if by some bizarre twist of fate it did happen I would probably watch her :P

Yeah everyone knows they would bitch and moan. Its a rock fest, the cred as gone etc etc... but then go and watch it anyway. Prob be better than some of the pish had on thru the day on main stage.

Same here :P

Though part of me thinks if she wasn't so huge, she might have got booked. After all (pretending she hadn't yet become a worldwide megastar) would it have been that much of a different booking to say the Ting Tings when they played, or Little Boots, or even Kate Nash.

I couldn't really see eithier of them 3 playing again, but they all did when they were on the rise.

Just to say, She didn't headline a stage at V. She was second from top on the 3rd Stage (tent) before MGMT.

However, I was there and she was possibly (along with The King Blues) my highlight of the weekend. Never really liked her music, but she sure can put on a show.

I'd hardly call her a random booking given how popular she is but I'd have no problem with her performing, she's got some decent tunes and would probably put on an interesting show.

I love how you have this quite snobbish opinion and at the same time want Limp Bizkit, Korn and Pappa Roach to play!

Whatever people think about Gaga, she can put on a much better show than most bands now a days.
Im also quite a fan of her music and just general attitude.
Definitely far more original than anything else thats dominated the charts in the last 10 years.

I wouldn't put the Ting Tings in the same category as Lady GaGa. The Ting Tings are a fairly credible band who play their own instruments and write their own music. I saw them at Reading 2008 and they were awesome.

It's not very R&L, but she'd get a good crowd and, yes, I might be there. A better 'alternative' act would be Scissor Sisters.

How do I have a snobbish opinion? Lady gaga is pop, full scale no two ways about it pop. R&L is an 'alternative' festival, where pop has no place, there's plenty of pop festivals out there. Lady gaga can play them.

I said id like limp bizkit to play.

I said that the likes of korn, papa roach, pod have a right to play an alternative festival because they are alternative bands and if u don't want to see bands like that at a festival dont go, go somewhere else. I never. said I wanted them to play, just defended there right to play there.

This is an alternative festival, like I said there's plenty acts across the festival I don't like but they still have the right to be there. just not pop. Indie rock metal rap dance u name it. I'll defend the right of an alternative band to play, the courteeners, placebo, pendulum, shed seven, you me at six, arctics, rage even if I don't like them.

I was gonna say this aswell, and plays the piano, and probably more than that too. Still wouldn't want her there though.

I was gonna say this, a more alternative act that is less pop orientated.

Some of the things you said sounded very snobby and I just thought it was funny that you were defending one of the most derided bands of all time whilst seemingly denying Lady Gaga's right to play.

The fact is that loads of pop bands play Leeds, they may not be mainstream in quite the same way Lady Gaga is but they are still pop and they rightfully play the festival. I find it odd that in the 21st century people are still dividing acts into mainstream and alternative as if those things exist now. There is nothing more alternative about Limp Bizkit than there is Lady Gaga.
