Naaah, Reading will be far better than the V lineup...Even if it's going to be bad for Reading, and assuming Blink 182 are headlining, it's got to be worth it! And the atmosphere will be better there :P

And no, this isn't biased, as I'm doing V this year...I'd just prefer to be doing Reading :P

My friends and I never do festivals because of line-ups, now I have never been to either V or R&L but all my mates that have say R&L wins hand down every time purely because of the atmosphere. They say V is just too commercial and lifeless.

Suppose depends on what you are after though.

V is a festival with no atmosphere, it will never be able to compete with Reading/Leeds.

how i see it is people go to leeds and reading regardless of the lineup, just for the experience, but i would only go to v if there was a decent lineup to be honest..

well ive only ever been to v, festival wise. toyed with the idea of readng this year as the line up at v last year was so bad, said id never do it again unless the music was spot on....which it is this year. way i see it, atmosphere is obviously important, but most important for me is who im paying to go and see...reading line up so far looks shitw and i tend to find the atmosphere at festivals is wicked in the camping zones which more than makes up for it

I'm doing V because I've never been to a festival before, and I've heard it's a fairly "tame" festival. Especially compared to Reading :P Obviously, expecting to get a few bruises...But with less risk of death :P

Might do Leeds next year. From what I've heard, Reading on the Sunday night is not a good place to be...

The vast majoity of people who claim V to be a better festival have only usually been to V. R&L will always be better simply due tp the fact there's an extra day of bands (plus comedy tent etc) for the same price.
Preference of bands is subjective & people will always have favourite line-ups etc but you can't argue with 50% more festival.

Never said it was. I have 5 friends who have all been to the big 4(Glastonbury, TITP, R or L and V)and everyone of them puts V at the bottom. That's not to say it is bad but just to say it is the worst of that bunch. Seems to be the general concensus on this site also.

Where else have you been?

Don't really matter where else i've been ( i first went Glastonbury in '95 and have been many festivals here and there over the years) as we're talking about V festival thats meant to have no atmosphere yet it's sold out every year and enjoyed by thousands.

I do understand what you mean by people saying other festivals are better as those festivals are maybe more their thing, but people probably say the same about V with regards to other festivals....different horses for different courses.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not a V fan boy inserted tightly up Virgins arse, i just feel V's getting a raw deal as it's not shit as some people say it is.

If GnR, Libs and Blink end up playing then reading/leeds headliners alone are better than the V lineup.

Ahaa, I was just about to say that this made my thoughts about Reading go a little bit downhill :P

Apart from Blink, none of those really excite me. Obviously, I would still prefer to go to Reading. Blink-182 are one of the bands I've always wanted to see, and they will certainly have more bands which I want to see than V does over the weekend. But, in my opinion, those headliners aren't all that strong. Having said that, I havn't really listened to the Libertenes before...I'm just going by the fact that Pete Doherty is a twat :P - Probably not the best way to judge music, but it's the best I have at the moment!!

Because I want to see Kasabian and Faithless. Chelmsford is my hometown and I know a lot of people that go. Besides, I can get a decent festival experience from Reading and Isle of Wight or Latitude.

V fest is so commercial hence why it'll never have as good a atmosphere as Reading or Leeds, Reading and Leeds is cull of passion for bands older albums aswell as new. Vs two headliners show how commercial it is. Kol didn't go Down well at Reading purely becuase they didn't play enough from aha shake heartbreak or youth and young manhood. Having cheryl cole at v sums it all up
