Where's this come from as if you compare The NME stage with Glastonbury's 'other' stage last year, there's a lot of similar bands? Or is it just V?

It's more the headline acts/big bands that R+L seek exclusivity over. Obviously not every band can only play one festival a year. And it's more V than Glasto really.

Just V tbh.

Hmm bummer, doesn't rule that many good bands out then, wouldn't have minded seeing: White Lies, Jamie T or maybe Madness, but life goes on.

The vast majority of Sonisphere's acts will be exclusives, and a fair few of Download's too.

Exclusitivity all depends on contracts
Glastonbury never make artists sign them and therefore lots of there acts play other festivals
Sonisphere and download tend to also have 'exclusive bands' because for some reason people think this is cool...
Most bands that appear at V wnt appear at other UK festivals as well beacuse V is a coperate festival and there C**ts. for example none of the other festivals were allowed Elbow
.
Tbh though if ur talking about headliners, u probaly wnt see the big britsh festivals Glastonbury, R/L, V, Download, Soni havign the same. However sometimes Isle of weight will have one the same though...

Its to gain an edge over the competitors if you have an act only appearing at your festival
glastonbury doesnt pay 99 percent of the bands so theres no exclusivity with them

They pay their minor bands well - they just don't pay silly money for a short evening's work as the likes of Reading & Leeds do.
Glastonbury don't ask bands for exclusivity. Festivals who are scared of other festivals being better than them ask for exclusivity.

Because of the cachet of playing at Glastonbury they manage to get many bands to play one-offs or come out of retirement which means that a good number of their headliners are exclusives too.
Makes me wish that the other "biggies" were more like the "Mother of all festivals"......
Edited as I'd accidentally used the word 'wee' in my response!
