Hey guys,

I'm travelling all over europe, starting in april with basically no money. Anyway, I'm padding out my time volunteering at various places, and was also wondering if there are any large, decent free festivals to get to? I Don't give a monkeys about notable bands playing, just want lots of people to mingle with, a good atmosphere & somewhere in a field to spend a few days getting rat arsed.

I've heard of Przystanek Woodstock which is in Poland which looks pretty good. Any others?

Thanks :P

Przystanek Woodstock is really awesome :P . Free, great atmosphere and great bands :P. There is also free one-day fest in Kraków, Poland - Wianki . There was Jamiroquai 2 years ago and Lenny kravitz last year. It's in the middle of June. Atmosphere also great, I was absent last year, but two years ago, whole audience was on the bank of Wisła River (500 000 people) and Jamiroquai played on the other side of the River, on big boat :P . Shitty connection between artists and audience, but it was really unique :P

So you are looking for festivals all summer long or just in April?

There are Queensnight and -day (Konninginendag) and the Bevrijdingsfestivals (day of getting rid of the nazis) in the Netherlands, Queensnight is the 29st of April, the day is the following day, Bevrijdingsdag is 4th or 5th may I think. Both will have lots of (dutch) bands playing, you could look that up on Wikipedia.

Than there's Abifestival in Germany ( www.abifestival.de ), which is free, last wekend of May, and Rheinkultur in Cologne and Das Fest in Karlsruhe are also free.

If you want to work there going to Roskilde in Denmark would make sense as well, you don't get paid but can attend the festival for free.
