Is it alright to take a 5 year old to the V Festival?

I'm asking since it says on the V website that children 5 and under get free admission.  He loves his music and his favourite band are The Stereophonics, but is it safe enough aslong as we pitch our tent further away from the main stage?

Seen plenty of kids there in the past. However a 5 year old might get a bit tired and cranky being outdoors listening to music for 10 hours for 2 days, so you'd probably end up missing some acts you really want to see. Also the tent stages get very crowded at times. Otherwise go for it but don't forget earplugs for the lad.

To be honest with you,he's got more energy than me and the missus put together, but I am prepared to miss some acts, however, he won't miss Madness or Stereophonics, that's for sure

Hi my thoughts are negative with children and V, my little girl is 5 and we attend many festivals and gigs together, personally I don't think V is child friendly enough, there is not enough to keep a child entertained, the camping areas are  not suitable, (few folk falling on tents etc..) when a festival is child friendly they have a designated area they direct you too when you have children with you but this is not the case with V.  I have discussed with with people over the year's, people with children at V and friends who have attempted and they all give it a big thumbs down.  If it rains allot it is nightmare and there's not enough place to get out of it.  The fair ground is very very over priced and the rides are not even suitable for children, other festivals at least have a few kids rides.

I want to attend Oxeygen but they make it full price for a childs ticket as an adult, a huge hint that they don't want children there, I think it is the same with V.

You have to buy any children under the age of 13 ear defenders, my daughter got some really mint one's from NME with a picture of Ian Brown on them, she likes wearing them as well.

I have two kids aged 4 and 5. There is no way I would even think of taking either of them to V Festival. It is not the sort of place for them. I saw a few younger kids last year at Weston Park and they were clearly not enjoying themselves - they appeared to be with day ticket holders so wouldn't have had to endure the camping. The organisers themselves do not recommend you take young kids to this event as they do not cater for the young ones.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for involving kids in the experience of it all (I do it myself with my kids at various events) but never V.

Glasto festival would be more welcoming.

Kendal calling and Guilefest are good for kids with face painters and mini fair grounds etc..
