There are exceptions to this mind - NoFX and Less Than Jake can both give a good show on the main stage.
I love the Living End, but they were wasted on the main stage last year:( sound quality was awful, hardly anyone knew who they were and there atmosphere was dead. A couple of years previous they were sub-headliners on the Lock-Up and it was awesome.

think DKM can pull off the mainstage but generally agree - punk rock is best in the tent.
King Blues and Tom Gabel (or Against me! but just something different) would be cool.
