Hello there

Anyone on the forums have any experience in travelling from Weston Pk to Shifnal after the gig ?

Seems to indicate its 1-2 miles. Would like to know if this is accurate ? Is it walkable distance. Are taxis generally available at the taxi pick up drop off point ? What time till etc ?

Any advice appreciated

Was going by this which indicates the place is just over a mile away.

Clicky

Would you say thats pretty inaccurate then ? Anyone have experience of taxi services in the area ?

Cheers

Which point are you looking at?  Shifnal is actually shown as 4 miles on that map.  If you're looking at the b&b marked A (the only thing on the map shown as 1-2 miles), that's easily walking distance.

Yes looking at that B&B Beerqueen. So maybe its not actually in Shifnall town then ? Are you familiar with the area ? Would you say the map is accurate ?

Cheers

I don't know the B&B but I can tell that IF it was A on the map, it would be perfect.  However I've never noticed a B&B so close.  If you google Aston Street Shifnal, it is shown as much closer to D on the map - i.e. in Shifnal proper which is the other side of the M54 so it looks a little misleading to me!  the Anvil Inn is number 22 Aston Road and is also shown in Shifnal proper which seems to support the idea that it isn't where shown on your map.

There is a pub close to Weston Park called the Bradford Arms - I don't know whether they do B&B but you could give them a ring and ask - their phone number is 01785 840297,  they are east of Weston Park on the A5 - in fact about where the sign "A5" is on your map by the first left turn.

Let me know if there's anything else - I will have a think if there's any other pub that I can suggest but really Weston is a bit in the middle of nowhere!

Funny thing is I googled some of what he said cos I thought it might be a quote from a film or the like and I was missing something.  (Yeah I've got too much time on my hands).  And it's a direct lift from a post from a forum about model planes from 2006!!?!  Bizarre!

If your interested in replacing the whole dial I have a Jelly Fish (gk100) thats in excellent condition and runs perfectly. The only exception is that the band has yellowed and thats it.

I was wondering what the effect of the Pastelian light scheme would be on waterfalls. Rainbow's maybe? If not, is the a rainbow equivalent?

Hi,
Had a look and it shows all the parts. Any tips on where to place some oil to lubricate things?

Thanks,

I live in shifnal, i got a taxi on the friday which cost me £20, luckily i wasnt on my own...

Its about 5-6 miles, tbh i wouldn't want to walk it since its along the A5, its deadly in the day, dread to think whats it like at night with loads of tired taxi drivers driving around.

its not a thing you want to be doing since you will prob be wasted walking for atleast 1 hour at a fast pace, prob looking at a 2 hour walk if you have been drinkin.

If you gonna do it, take a big torch and high ris jacket :P

Hi instead of posting a new topic, i thought i would add my question here.

Could anybody advise me on the best way of traveling to Weston Park from the Premier Inn at Cannock, WS11 1SJ. IS there a bus i can get or is a taxi my only option? As due to there being no weekend tickets left with camping i had purchase standard weekend tickets.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Shell

Thanks for the info Mark. So do you know if 'The Anvil Lodge' place is in Shifnal or outside ? Guessing it is in Shifnall and the map (see link in previous post) is inaccurate.

Was it easy to get a taxi on the Friday night ? I see there is a taxi pick up and drop off point. Is there loads of taxis around or is it a bit of a free for all.

I think we would prob hang on at campsites with friends for a couple of hours after gigs finish having a few beers so would anticipate heading back to Shifnall about 2-3am. If I know I can just book a cab or jump in one at the pick up point it will make things easier. Dont really mind paying a bit extra as long as someone will actually turn up

Once again advice appreciated

Yeah, the anvil is in shifnal, quite near the centre, i had no problems getting taxi's, they ask for the name and call you when they arrive etc.. this is central taxis btw (01952 501050) thats what i always use and never had any problems.

Don't want to alarm you but the cant get inside campsites without a camping wristband, you can sneak in by liftin the small metal fences, but thought i should warn you.
