Muse aren't good enough live to warrant my vote I'm afraid. A beautiful musical ensemble >>> Pyrotechnics and Bellamy's piano w*nkery.

Close call. I prefer Arcade Fire on record, and they are amazing live but I wouldn't say they are ready to headline yet. Muse on the otherhand are a bit old hat and their last album wasn't very good. That said they know how to fill one and a half hours and they would sure sell tickets. I would have to go with them.

If Muse were one of the 3 - Id seriously consider buying a ticket.
Arcade Fire, Blink, MCR - Not even putting any money aside.

Just looked at the Glasot one. I love the way the majority at reading want muse and majority at glasto want arcade.

I've seen Muse twice, once on The Resistance tour, and I've never seen Arcade Fire live.... Tough call.
I went with Muse anyway.

Probably prefer Muse, but have seen them 3 times now, and found myself nowhere near as enthusiastic on The Resistance tour. And given that I haven't seen Arcade Fire before, I'm probably more excited about seeing them than Muse again. That said, if Muse came with the condition that they played a proper career-spanning set, with a few Resistance album tracks and boring singles (Starlight, Time Is Running Out) dropped, and a few heavy hitters from Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry brought in my vote would probably change.

Muse hands down not even a contest

I picked Muse .... despite the fact that I wouldn't really want them anyway as they in fact bore me now. Same songs, same show; and I didn't think much of their last album at all. AF don't impress me as headliners whatsoever, so they lost out just for sheer 'who?' ness

If Muse hadn't just released a pile of w*nk, then it might be a contest. But Arcade Fire is the bravest and most interesting booking since the Pixies. And while the 2 more mainstream headliners aren't as good as Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden (which is quite depressing considering that neither are that great), it's the first thing to make me feel positive about where this festival is going in years.
That said, unless their new album does really well, I wouldn't have thought Arcade Fire were big enough. Good enough, but atm, before sales for this pending album, I'd bill them at 3rd. They've not had any exposure over here at all since Neon Bible and the tour for that.

That is kind of my feelings about it too.
On one hand it'll be nice to have smaller more credible artists like Arcade Fire (not so much Blink) to headline because it shows a nice progression. That being said in comparison to the legendary bands that have previously graced teh stage it's hard to justify Blink-182, and Arcade Fire as headliners. Obvious hypothetical because nothing is confirmed, but if next year has less Blink/Paramore-esque bands, and more alt bands like Arcade Fire i think i'd be happy.

I know very little about Arcade Fire but have heard a lot of positive stuff about them. To the person who said that Muse are not good enough live - I think you must be thinking of someone else. I'm not a huge Muse fan but they totally totally rocked when I saw them.

i've seen both muse and arcade fire live several times and i think arcade fire are a far better live band (although muse are very good live). some people seem to equate riffs and heaviness with a band being good live. don't get me wrong i am a fan of heavy rock music but some of the best performances i have ever seen have been from the likes of sigur ros and arcade fire.
when i have seen arcade fire they have built up an incredible atmosphere, they are extremely talented, multi-instrumentalist and have some brilliant, brilliant songs. funeral is such a good album. please buy it and listen to it a few times before slating the band.

Would swap Muse for either of the other two.

for me its a no brainer, arcade fire everytime
there are very few bands i would miss arcade fire for that are around at the moment, infact i could probably count them on one hand tbh
just my opinion tho
but i agree that they are a much more risky / odd headliner for R/L than i would have guessed

If this was Muse 2004 against Arcade Fire 2010 then Muse everytime. If it was Arcade Fire 2005 against Muse 2010 then Arcade Fire everytime. Muse 2010 against Arcade Fire 2010 is much harder to call for me.
