Thieves / Security (same thing?)

First V this year, just wondered what the security/thieving situation is like at Hylands? Reason I ask, are they the same thing, as @ Download a couple of years ago they most certainly bloody were to a point....the tent thieving was out of control and some of security were in on it. Download was the worst festival ever I have attended for thieves, no doubt. If it wasn't nailed down, they were having it, chairs, food, the lot. People waking to there tent being zipped open, "sorry mate, wrong tent" etc....
Suppose the key is to not leave anything valuable in your tent, what have you folks experienced/ how rife is it at Hylands?
Cheers.

Never had anything happen to me (touches wood) but i did hear of a few things last year.
Groups of young boys with no wristbands going through tents, i did see some of them get caught, blinding it was.
And i heard that a friend of a friend had all his money knicked on the Friday night from his tent while he was at the Disco, bit stupid really as you don't leave money in a tent do ya.

My mate had his chair nicked during the day last year while we were in the festival, they also went thru all our food and stole drink i think. Nothing too serious but you get chavs everywhere... its like you say, anything that is valuable to you either dont take it or keep it with you. If anyone broke into my tent they'd just get some old clothes and a blow up bed or torch etc..
Even when you sleep, leave everything in ya pockets or put them under your sleeping bag or matress.

my mates tent got done on friday night, ruined his weekend, i had my chair nicked but was expected as it was cool chair, advise is take nothing expensive and keep all your money, phone on u, leave your tent messy and smelly and they wont go near it lol
u will always get thieves but the security truck does fo round the campsites so that makes u feel better

oh god this is shocking i cant believe that people do this!! doesnt give me much faith in the security side of things! oh well im just not gona take anything valuable, bar some toiletries, camping equipment! purse/phone/camera = all in my bag and transformed into a teddyish type thing at night
im in a tent with 3 of my other girl m8s good luck to theives if they want anything of ours because at the end of the day they will loose their family jewels if they nick anything from us!!!

Only my experience of Weston but hopefully it's similar at Hylands Park. V seems to be not too bad for thieving - the golden rules apply don't leave anything in the tent that you can't replace e.g. money, keys, train ticket home and phone and put important stuff in you sleeping bag with you at night. Also it helps if you camp near a security point.
Having been to Reading, there was much less theiving at V and the security even did a huge operation on Sat to catch a group of chavs who were nicking stuff from tents near us.

Touchwood I was OK at V last time out, wasn't too far from the paths although it would make sense to park yourself a bit infield so if you do catch someone trying to teeleaf from you, it's more difficult for them to leg it through all the tents!!!

There's no point getting paranoid about it, just follow the golden rules as above and you should be fine.
