T are trying to steal Rockness punters?

Thing is with TITP and the slam tent is that one day they will have to change style away from techno, electro is much stronger at the moment with younger generations and in 10 or so years when the vintage T goers are well outnumbered techno just won't cut it with most.

Was gona buy that, but gave it a quick listen beforehand. Ur right, Shite! was expecting the album to be full of tunes similar to there set at Rockness coz they had the place goin nuts. Just a bunch of poor songs with Hip-Hop artits etc etc. Seriously let down

I'm not a massive fan of the album but it's not that bad. I'm actually more pleased with it than I would've been if they had stuck with the banger formula they've been pumping out for years already. It's a tired sound that's become terribly formulaic. Instead they made a decent album to listen to in the house, the car or whatever. Is it a great album? No but it's not terrible. An album full of bangers may as well just be released as singles in the current climate (see: Boys Noize "Oi Oi Oi").

pretty disappointed with their album, pretty poor compared to their previous ep's, needs more basslines and the big build ups there known for

This is true, they have to move with times, obviously everyone isn't going to be happy but there really is a bit of somerthing for everyone on in The Slam.

I think the Slam tent at T will be there is some shape or form for at least another 8 years.. but I can see a similar thing happen where they get several smaller tents offering various genres ala Glasto

That would be pretty good. Keep all the daft old ravers with there smiley faces T shirts and whistles in the one place.

I never said Oi Oi Oi was bad, I just used it as an example. The tracks on Oi Oi Oi are great but in reality it just plays like a bunch of singles thrown together, it's not got the flow of an album. It would've been served just as well or better being put out as three seperate EPs as oppossed to an album. That's not what an album's about IMO but we all have different opinions so i'll agree to disagree. It's like Deadmau5 saying in interviews that he's only now working on his "debut artist album" and that "Random Album Title" and "For Lack of a Better Name" were just compilation albums of his own work. That's the way I see "Oi Oi Oi", a good compilation of some great Boys Noize tracks.

Defo, he'd be amazing for Rockness - he's on fire at the moment.
I'm pretty sure I heard he's playing the Sub Club sometime in June, can't wait to see him.

I guess we can probably rule out Groove Armada, DJ Yoda and Sven Vath for Rockness.

The Electro thing is just a (horrible) fad .
It will pass.
Edit to add , when I say electro I'm talking about what gets passed off as electro today , not real electro.

what..... are you off your rocker?
please refer to juno's list of genres.
every genre is multiplied by 10, there is a house, vocal, dub, version of every genre. except one.
techno my friend will always cut it.

This thread in general just pisses me off ! haha
T in the Park and Rockness are dealing with different markets, one is more established than the other, and one has more money to spend too ! They are not trying to steal anyone.. You like both festivals, go out and fish out on both!

Even me, part of the reason I don't go to TITP is Rockness.

Of course they are in the same market, they are the 2 major festivals in scotland and that puts them in direct competition with each other. Not everyone can afford both and i know loads of people that choose between them every year.
T is more established ans have more money like you said, but thats the reason why Rockness has to think differently, in order to compete! I don't neccesarily buy into the idea that both festivals are aimed at different crowds though, some people just like going to festivals regardless of acts!
