Thinking of taking a few days and driving this year instead of the usual boring plane journey. Looking for any hints or tips and if it's worth it or not. What route did you take? where did you stop off to stay overnight? Are you completely f**ked on the road back?!! How much did the fuel cost? Stuff like that.

We'd be leaving from Glasgow on the Friday night, stay a night in France and then one in Barcelona and be in Benicāssim on the Monday afternoon/evening. 4 of us, 2 drivers so it would cost maybe Ģ400 diesel there and back. Flights are Ģ200 from here anyway so the other Ģ400 can be used for food and accomodation and it's an adventure for the same price as flights  :P

Done it last year, and never again! took absolutley ages and cost pretty much the same as a flight.. Remember you have all the toll road's aswell, unless you're planning on taking the uber scenic route which would double you're journey time

Stayed one night in the south of france in some pony formula one room, then one just outside beni the next night.

But bear in mind i went with a bird i barely knew, imagine it would be more enjoyable with 3 other mates.. I suppose if you took you're time to proper plan the route, stop off's etc it wojuldnt be soo tedious.

I found coming back a lot better as i was asleep for most of it! :P

Only thing I could offer is: seeing as you will/should have tents with you, camping on the way would be great. French campsites are all over the place, cheap, and pretty good too. You can also keep costs down by doing the hypermarket/wine/bread/cheese thing, which is pretty cool too.

Mind you, Glasgow to Barįa in two days is going some, you might want to adda a day inthere.....
