So who do we think is getting announced in this?

As they've added lots of European festival bookings from early July to late August, I can see Billy Talent maybe playing, who Im a big fan of, even though they were poor at Download last year due to screaming so much, but their Rock AM Ring performance the week before I watched online, and they were great, also saw them live I think 2006 at their own shows and were good.

Another band Ive noticed are touring and it might be a bit of a sour choice amongest the metalheads but what if Manic Street Preachers were booked? Especially if they played a lot of stuff from earlier albums, I think they'd go down quite well. I'd like to see them play Friday night

yep early Manics is wiked! Billy Talent nah, there was a whole loada them sort of new bands in the previous announcement, bleedin awful. Its looking certain it'l be Manowar....the only band that could make me buy a ticket now is Faith No More....so they best somehow fit them in, otherwise i think il give sonisphere a miss.

Is the announcement on Monday? I can't find anything that confirms this?

This one might be on Tuesday/Wednesday for the next edition of Kerrang?

Mancis would be good, Manowar would be lame, FNM would be amazing.

A few bands like NOFX and Rancid wouldn't go amiss neither, Rancid are supposed to be coming to the UK this year so hopefully they will make a rare appearance at a festival.

Announcement on the Radio 1 rock show again tonight? Why they have to wait for A radio show that's on in the middle of the nite before making an announcement, i don't know. It's hardly prime time.

Anyhoo, if the "special guests" turn out to be Manowar i'll be well hacked off.

Friday night jokey band? - ok! :P
Saturday midnite band on Bohemia? - Yup! :P
"special guests" under Maiden? - NO FRACKIN' WAY!! :P

They said after last weeks tirade of 'your shit' to their last announcement that there would be another announcement 'next week'

but then theyve made no mention of it since.

Just saw your post Keith, you could have actually said that was from sonisphere instead of just posting no bands today.

Thing that pisses me off that was a tweet to someone so they haven't actually even said official theres no band announcement today even though they gave the impression last week there would be and even told the sonisphere street team that the announcement would be monday.

They seem so half arsed, I want festivals to succeed for choice and obviously competition brings out the best in everything, but Sonisphere seem so god damn lazy, they pale completely to Downloads community and whats sonisphere doing today? banging on about how they have posted more tweets than Download and Reading and Leeds have, yeah about unimportant SHITE.

+1

To be honest I think the reason why Sonisphere didn't sell out last year, and wont again this year isn't due to the price/ quality of acts, I think they just market it really poorly and just have no rapport with the fans. I bought a ticket and have slowly been more annoyed about my purchase announcement after non announcement...

They really know how to piss the fans off though... Give a crap announcement (even if you liked the bands, you can hardly argue that they're dealbreakers or good finds from the promoters) and then try to sweeten it by not following it up... Oh well.

The 'TBA special guests' will probably turn out to be a typo or something too

maybe they had planned to announce 'Manowar' in a monday announcement as the special guest.....tested the waters a few days ago hinting on Twitter that Manowar were playing to see what reactions/feedback they would get on forums/twitter etc....saw that feedback was not good at all, so delayed the announcement so they can go back to the drawing board and get Faith No More to play aswel as Manowar....cos lets face everyone has been screaming out for Faith No More, and its what we all want!!! well thats my theory anyway

I seriously hope FNM play. Though tbh I just hope generally they get a decent backing lineup throughout the day, rather than the generally run of the mill generic bands that seem to have been announced so far...

I honestly don't think they have a clue, i mean bragging about the number of times they've been spouting their mouths off on twitter? who gives a shit? they should do themselves a favour and sack the marketing team, unless they have, as many have predicted, blown their load. I love faith no more and would be chuffed if they played, but unless you're a fan everyone thinks it's the band who did epic and covered easy, not exactly going to shift 100,000 tickets as much as it pains me to say (i'd buy one though, which would be one more than they sold last week).

True a lot of people do just know Epic and Easy (how many people could name 1 Manowar song btw?). But FNM do have a big hardcore cult following who would kill to see them live and i think if they were announced a lot of people would be putting there hands in their pockets and buying tickets i reckon just for the sole reason that theyr playing....me included! otherwise im not bothering with this sonisphere lineup this year

black wind, fire and steel!

anyway, this is deja vu from last year. first band announcement blows your balls off, second major announcement was a bit better than this years, and promises of announcements that dont surface - followed by disappointing announcements, followed by FMC codes being dreampt up, followed by refunding "booking fees" to grab headlines (as if ticketmaster would work for free?) followed by just about anyone who wanted a free ticket getting one.

last year I bought my ticket on launch day, and even booked hotel rooms a few days before.

this year I am waiting until the week before the festy before I even consider going.

and lets face it, if soni didnt exist, we would have probably got Rammstein at download.

soni '11 wont happen people, or it will be the last.

I understand people questioning the line up as every forum on this site has people not happy with there line up, I'm not sure about the questioning of why there wasn't an announcement yesterday?

Neither the website or Twitter once said there was an announcement on Monday, just that it would be this week, if they don't provide an announcement this week then you can all moan :P

Ps I cannot wait for Download backlash starting on the 15th as they announce bands of less and less stature each time because they have already announced there big guns like most festivals do :P

just keep grasping those straws duder.

The best bit about Sonispheres twitter was how they posted the google trends from yesterday claiming that they edged out over download, reading and leeds.

So i felt the urge to reply to them saying They only do this because they have european festivals, and are competing against uk festivals. When you look at the UK trends they dont even come close.

It's just one non-stop we need SOMETHING to brag about because nobody is talking about what a great festival its going to be because we've pissed everyone off already.

It also pisses me off that on their twitter they're posting promotional garb for the 'big four'. Seems every other sonisphere has more substancial bands than the UK one and thats all they care about.

I agree the whinging will start about download from here on out because of the smaller bands being announced. But they have got 12 pretty big bands announced already, three of which it would cost you in excess of £50 to see. Sonisphere has Rammstein and Iron Maiden which is awesome...but thats largely it.

I dont think fans are asking for much to want more than a hand full of bands to look forward too.

Its just bad marketing following an industrial metal band and an 80s metal band with a couple of tweemo bands. of course there was uproar, there was always going to be uproar.

Plus if the special guest is manowar...are manowar even that big in this country? Like somebody else said its difficult to even name their songs.

Like most i was excited for sonisphere after the innitial line up, but unless theres free or seriously discounted tickets knocking around in a few months, i wont be going. Maybe they'll learn, hopefully before they have to stop doing the festival.

thats my rant....sorry, they piss me off haha.
