Hey,

Just got tickets to Wood Festival in Oxfordshire in May http://www.thisistru...d-festival.aspx

It's a folk festival, with (by the looks of it) quite a green and hippy kinda vibe, with lots of workshops going on alongside the music. There's only 800 people too. It looks amazing and I'm mega excited!

Has anyone been? Or perhaps to Truck, it's "bigger brother" festival? Any info, what's it like, etc?

Cheers  :P

Went last year for the first time and can't wait for this year's.

This is a really laid back, family orientated festival run on very 'green' principles. The stages are powered by solar or wind power. The main stage has a grass roof. There are loads of yurts with workshops going on. There is a bicyle powered disco and a wood fired sauna.

At night there is a big bonfire for everyone to sit round. Camping is in the same field as the fesival and last year you could sit in your camper van and watch the main stage.

Music is not soley folk but a good mix of folk and indie. There are still more acts to be announced.

If you like samll friebdly festivals I would recommend it.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds great, I'm so excited :P

I went to 2000 trees last year, which is another great small festival in a similar vein... Altho it didn't have workshops and the music was wide-ranging from Metal to Acoustic. Not a massive fan of the louder stuff so the folk-y kinda vibe works for me.

2000 trees felt tiny and that was 1,500 tickets, so I imagine this will be even more tiny!

I've read lots of places that it's very "family friendly" (which is great), but we're a couple in our mid-twenties going... Do you think we're going to feel out of place?!

Cheers :P

We've just ordered our tickets.
First time at Wood and really looking forward to it.

Can't be doing with all the corporate sponsorship at the bigger festivals.
This looks like a nice alternative. Like the idea of all the workshops.

Anyone up for a drum circle? We play BIG surdo drums in a samba band and will probably bring them with us... :P

this looks very promising - always like a bit of tunng on a Saturday night - but bit concerned about two things - "family friendly" and proximity to Oxford - is it going to be full of kids called Tarquin and Cassandra dressed from the Boden catalogue or is it a bit more earthy?

I was a bit worried about that.... but I checked out a video on their website (and on here somewhere too) which shows some footage from last time and it doesn't seem to be too much like that... At least I hope not! :P
